🖤❤️Called to Care was chosen to receive funding from The Kirby Smart Family Foundation for the 5️⃣th year in a row! The money from this grant will be used to provide beds and bedding to children as they enter foster care. 🛌🏼 We are so appreciative of their generosity! ❤️🖤

🐾 Last week, we were invited to attend the Kirby Smart Family Foundation Day along with one of our families! The mom, Jessica Sandlin, is the director of the Worth County chapter. See what she has to say about foster care and our ministry. ⏬

"Called to Care is very special to our family. We are not only thankful for the help they provided to us personally but also to hundreds of other families and vulnerable children.

We have three beautiful girls—one through birth, one through adoption, and one through (foster) love. Before foster care, my husband and I served at our local church in youth ministry. One summer while at camp, we met a couple who were foster parents. After a long conversation one night, we felt since we were already serving youth, why not open our home up to children, honestly we had no idea what foster care was really about. If you go back 20 + years, we struggled with infertility, during that time foster care was mentioned to us, but I don’t believe God spoke to us and opened our hearts to it until that summer night at youth camp.

So after a few months of doing all of the paperwork, we got our first placement. I will never forget that night. Although, we felt prepared, we weren't, and after a phone call, within 2 hours, a caseworker brought three little girls to our home. Today the youngest shares our last name and is a pure Joy to know and love. She is full of energy and definitely keeps us on our toes!

Our foster care placement story includes where Called to Care stepped in to help. I reached out to Ms. Donna for help and was given clothing bags, journey bags, and much needed baby items because we hadn’t prepared for a newborn. Plus, the girls came with hardly any items. We were so thankful for the items provided by C2C. They are a huge help to not only foster families, but also biological and kinship families. Foster care is hard, but the thing that has gotten me through each case is Christ’s love for me and His sacrifice. We have served 30+ kids through foster care. Julia went from being an only child, to at one point, having 5 siblings! You see, the children and their parents that we have been able to serve because of foster care are all created in God’s image and have an eternal soul.

Called to Care’s mission is meeting a physical need with hopes to meet a spiritual need. The hope of Christ, along with the knowledge that there are hundreds of thousands more children like the ones we served, drives Called to Care purpose: to advocate, educate, and speak up about the children, families, and even caseworkers within our own community. They serve their physical needs while sharing the gospel of Jesus’s birth, death, and resurrection. He is the way. The only way.
