Its about that time in the semester where everything is due, tests are coming up, and everything is stressful.
You see, with Phi Theta Kappa, we are more than just an honors society. We are a small family. PTK members, never feel afraid to turn to our president, officers, or other members for advice or just someone to lean on in this difficult time. We've all been there!
Ask us how to reach an academic standpoint to join our great group! It looks amazing on future college applications, resumes, and has lots of beneficial opportunities!

PTK had an absolutely amazing time at the Myth and Reality of the American Dream honors in action project. We heard from not only our guest speakers, but from attendees as well. Lots of great opinions and viewpoints. Can't wait for next year's!

11/15/2018

From PTK advisor Dr. Klesman. Today is the day!

"The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is hosting a symposium, titled “Myth and Reality of The American Dream” on Thursday, Nov. 15 in Bowin Hall, Rm. 100 beginning at 3 p.m. The event will provide opportunities to discuss personal and cultural goals related to our national identity through positive discussions and the productive exchange of ideas. We hope people will leave feeling excited and energized.
Phi Theta Kappa will sponsor four Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College faculty as guest speakers: Dr. Johnny Evans, Dean, School of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Renata Elan, Dean, Stafford School of Business; Tamara Dennis, PhD, RNC, of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences; and Dr. Russell Prior, Assistant Professor of History. A fifth speaker, Ms. Alma Young, Director of CAMP at Valdosta State University, will contribute her expertise on Latino education programs.
Designed to encourage drop-in attendance and guided brainstorming, “The American Dream” theme is based on social economist, Michael Green’s TED Talk, “What the Social

Progress Index can reveal about your country” that inspired Omega Delta Chapter members to wonder about the relationship between national economic development and the happiness of the population. Guest speakers will have 5 minutes to talk about their concepts, then everyone will move to roundtable discussions with a guest speaker at each table. The audience will change to new tables every 15 minutes. The event ends with each guest speaker providing a brief summary of the discussions, then conclude with audience questions and answers."

11/14/2018

Meeting today at 5:15, Conger 107!
Its not too late to find out how to reach an academic standpoint to become a member!

Tomorrow is the big day!

11/13/2018

Attention ABAC students!
Phi Theta Kappa will be hosting an Honors in Action symposium, named Myth and Reality of the American Dream.
This will be a GREAT opportunity to learn from a variety of speakers from our own campus, and hear what they have to say on this subject.
It will be in Bowen 100, starting at 3pm on Thursday, November 15th.
We will have round table discussion, and you are free to come and go as you please.

Our speakers include:
-Dr. Johnny Evans, Dean, School of Arts and Sciences
-Dr. Renata Elan, Dean, Stafford School of Business
-Mr. Troy Spicer, RN, MS, FNP-BC; Health Center Director
-Ms. Alma Young, MA, Director of CAMP, the College Assistance Migrant Program, at Valdosta State University.

One thing I would like to note is that we are having our very own VP of Service, Sergio Contreras, translate some of the program. We are making this as open and compatible as we can!
Students, check with your professors to see if they are offering extra credit for you to attend. If so, this will not only be beneficial for you educationally, but in the classroom as well!

We hope to see you all there!

Hope to see you all there!

10/24/2018

Important information regarding the Halloween Walk:
We wanted to point out that PTK'S Halloween Walk is NOT open to any and all ABAC students. This event is open to ABAC families, meaning if you are an ABAC student and have kids, younger cousins, siblings, etc., that you want to bring, you are welcome to attend.

There was some recent confusion and we wanted to clear the air and make sure everyone knows the correct information. Please share to get the word out.

We want this event to be completely family friendly and a safe environment for the children.

In case you forgot, it is happening October 30th at 4:15 PM.
