Dr. Gahagen represented ABAC by enthusiastically giving a talk during one of the ASB sessions!

ABAC Biology Majors presenting research at ASB 2023!

This year several students represented ABAC at the annual Association of Southeastern Biologists (ASB) Conference.

Lauren Abbott and William Garcia worked with Dr. Kingsley Dunkley to present their research titled Investigating the Antimicrobial Properties of Curcumin Extract Against Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative Bacteria.

Caleb Guerra and Nicholas Spader worked with Dr. Khatiwada to present two oral presentations covering their work with diatoms as a novel way for heavy metal filtration.

Haley Spiess and Caroline Shaw worked with Dr. Gahagen to present two posters covering their work with Seymeria cassioides, and were recognized as Honorable Mention for their poster entitled, The Effects of Climate Change on Phenology of Hemiparasite, Seymeria cassioides (Orobanchaceae).
