PLAY CARDS COMING SOON TO TIFT COUNTY STUDENTS!

Georgia Public Library Service and PINES public libraries partner with school districts across Georgia to offer PINES Library Access for Youth (PLAY). The PLAY student library card program provides fines-free access to books and online resources to help students succeed in school.

Children learning to read, youth doing research, and teens preparing for college have immediate access to fines-free public library materials and resources using their public school student ID.

Library Everywhere has another busy week coming up! After the holiday weekend, we'll be in Irwin County on Tuesday, at our new stop in Omega Wednesday, and out in Ty Ty and Fitzgerald on Thursday. See you there!

Coastal Plain CASA, Inc. is hosting our eighth annual Volunteer Recruitment Fair on September 3rd at the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

The Volunteer Recruitment Fair is an event where people can do a quick walk-through and be educated by local non-profit organizations about ways they can serve as a volunteers right here in our community.

This event is an excellent opportunity for people who want to give back to their community and are looking for ways to give their time for a greater purpose. It would also benefit any company that requires volunteer hours for their employees so they can learn how they can obtain those hours.

As the new school year approaches, it's essential to be mindful of school zone safety. School starts on Friday, August 2nd, and it's crucial to remember to slow down and stay alert in school zones. The speed limit of 25 mph is in place to protect our children, so it's important for everyone to adhere to this limit. We all share the responsibility of keeping our children safe by being vigilant and cautious in school zones. This includes stopping for school buses, pedestrians in crosswalks, and being extra cautious on the roads.

Parents are reminded to drop off and pick up their children in the designated areas provided by the school, rather than stopping in the middle of the street or down the road. To ensure a safe journey, take some time between Monday and Thursday of this week to familiarize yourself with the school zones on your regular travel routes. Pay close attention to signs and road markings that indicate the entrance to these zones.

We encourage everyone to plan their routes to school or work in advance, leaving early if necessary, to ensure a safe and timely arrival. Remember, safety should always be a priority.

It's important to understand that when you see blue lights in your rearview mirror, it means you may have put children at risk, and this is taken very seriously. Let's work together to keep our children safe as they head back to school.

Thanks to the Exchange Club of Tifton for their support of TCCCY as we work to impove the lives of children and their families in Tift County.
The Bids for Kids Auction funds they provide to the community organizations to prevent and fight child abuse make a BIG difference in the lives of the children of Tift County.

Today, the Exchange Club of Tifton was able to present grant checks to various organizations in our community who are on the front lines of fighting and preventing child abuse. These grants were made possible through the annual Bids for Kids Auction, held in May. A total of $12,000 was given out to these organizations: Alliance For Children South GA, Called to Care of Tift and Turner County, Coastal Plain CASA, Inc., Kids' Advocacy Coalition, Inc., Maggie Campbell’s Gingerbread House, Ruth's Cottage & The Patticake House, Peanut Butter & Jesus - Tifton, Plight IncTift, Pregnancy Care Center of Tiftarea, The Kalos Academy INC, The Salvation Army and Tift County Commission on Children & Youth.

In accordance with HB 251, we have provided a list available open slots at our schools. If you wish to apply for one of these slots, please complete the Public School Transfer Request Form. The list of available slots and link to this form can be found at https://www.tiftschools.com/page/schoolchoice.
All applications must be received on or before July 14th.
