Internship spotlight: Whitnie Yoder🪴
Here’s a message from Whitnie about her experience this summer at Monrovia Nurseries!
I’ve been living out my dream of being a plant girl at Monrovia Nurseries this summer! One of 4 locations across the US, the nursery in Cairo, GA is one of the oldest in the country. The beautiful landscape totals over 200 acres, growing everything from magnolia trees to houseplants. As an intern, I have been able to assist in each process that happens on the nursery, from the time plants are propagated to when they ship out. I’ve enjoyed the diversification of each day & the pure excitement of growing products.
Monrovia told me to send more Stallions their way, so be sure to look into this internship for next summer! I would encourage anyone who sees the horticulture industry in their future to pursue this opportunity.
Internship Spotlight: Wendy Sullivan🪴
Here’s a message from Wendy about her experience this summer at the Biltmore Estate!
This summer, I’ve had the privilege to be a horticulture intern at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina! I was placed on the landscape crew that oversees Antler Hill Village, the Winery, and the Inn. I typically assist members of my crew in their specific areas: my tasks could include pruning, watering, fertilizing, pulling weeds, and replacing or planting new plants. During my internship, I’ve learned a tremendous amount. I’ve been able to learn a variety of new plants and how to work with them, as well as various landscape design techniques. I’ve been able to work in a wide variety of areas on the estate as well as on different crews like Agriculture, Field to Table, Vineyards, and Arboriculture. My favorite part has definitely been getting to know and work with everyone on my crew and learning from them firsthand, as well as everyone on all of the different crews. Everyone is super nice and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know everyone as well as learn from them!
