➡️ If traveling by car, include breaks to stretch and walk
➡️ If traveling by plane or train, select an aisle seat if possible and walk around every 2-3 hours
➡️ Raise and lower your heels with your toes on the floor and tighten and release your leg muscles
And if you are at risk for DVT, you can also talk to your physician about wearing compression stockings during travel.

From our wonderful patients to our amazing team, we’re thankful for YOU!
Smoking is detrimental to your vascular health and drastically increases your chances of vascular diseases. Chemicals in ci******es cause plaque to build up and blood to thicken, which can narrow arteries, form clots, and inhibit blood flow.
No matter how long or when you started smoking, quitting now can improve your health immediately and in the long term.
A less invasive treatment for carotid artery disease, TCAR (Transcarotid Artery Revascularization), is performed with a small incision just above the collarbone. A sheath is then placed in the carotid artery, and an outside circuit directs blood flow away from the brain and safely back into a leg vein. This reverse flow allows our doctors to place a stent at the site of the disease for long-term plaque stabilization and stroke prevention.
Our expert vascular team has proudly performed over 100 TCAR procedures. If you’re interested in learning more, give us a call today at 903.533.8702.
We salute you, our veterans, for your time, bravery, and sacrifice to our country. We are forever grateful.

1 out of 3 strokes originates in the carotid arteries. With TCAR (Transcarotid Artery Revascularization), you can stop strokes before they happen. TCAR is the less invasive standard in stroke prevention, and when compared to open surgery, it presents less risk of heart attack and nerve injury, with a shorter procedure time and a smaller scar.

We’re celebrating a milestone with our 100th TCAR procedure, performed on August 30th!
TCAR (Transcarotid Artery Revascularization) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat carotid artery disease while reducing the chance of stroke and nerve injury. TCAR temporarily reverses blood flow away from the brain while a stent is inserted to open a narrowed carotid artery. The stent then helps keep the artery clear of plaque, minimizing the risk of additional strokes.
