Weather update from Tyler ISD!

While main roads and streets are in good condition, District staff has confirmed that some city streets and many of the District’s rural roads throughout the county are not passable for buses and vehicles without off-road capabilities.

In order to provide families time to plan for the supervision of their children, Tyler ISD is announcing closure of schools and all activities and games for Tuesday, January 16th, 2024.

District staff will once again inspect conditions tomorrow and communicate plans for Wednesday the 17th.

REMINDER: No school tomorrow in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

This is the last week of the Tyler Legacy PTA membership drive. If you are reading this post and not a member of the Legacy PTA please join now at www.joinpta.org.

The mission of the Legacy PTA is to support the teachers & students at Tyler Legacy High School. We not only provide several breakfasts & lunches throughout the year for the teachers & staff but we work alongside the counselors and the nurse to provide personal hygiene items for the Care Closet. We are also working on putting together a food pantry with staple items that students dealing with food insecurity can access. The PTA is one of the only organizations that supports all teachers & students rather than one of the many booster clubs that only support a select few. I understand the importance of the various booster clubs (I am a member of a few) but the entire student body benefits from a strong PTA. Our one fundraiser is selling spirit gear. We as an organization only retain a portion of our membership dues while we must send dues to Texas PTA. We do not host a large festival in the fall or a fun run in the spring but we are still meeting the needs of our teachers & staff like our elementary and middle school counterparts that support a much smaller staff.
