The safety of our staff and students is always our top priority. At this time, tomorrow's wind predictions of 30 - 50 mph exceed the safety threshold of school buses. With this in mind, the decision has been made to close all Lowndes County Schools and the System Office for Tuesday, January 9th.

Coach Farrill and Coach Brittany would like to wish everyone a happy new year. We hope everyone enjoyed their break, and hope everyone is ready to begin a fresh semester. Come back to school ready to work hard in the classroom! The 2024 season is just around the corner. Your grades matter! Grade eligibility requirements to play fall sports are in play. If you need help in a class this semester - pls let us know! The student comes before the athlete, and there are options for tutoring.

📣The A team swept the county for the season tonight - beating HMS for the 2nd time after dominating PGMS twice earlier this week. The score was 14-5 today - Improving the LMS Vikette’s conference record to 6&2. 🥎💪

🚨8th grader Ashton Carter got the win in the circle pitching 6 innings allowing 4 hits, walking 1 and striking out 6. Mila Montenegro was a force behind the plate and had a big bat offensively coming in clutch with a hard hit triple to left field.

The LMS Vikette offense would dig deep early gaining the lead . Defense fought hard to maintain that lead all 6 innings.

The A team will face TCC and Cairo back to back tmr at home. Great Job Lowndes‼️

📣📣📣Today we celebrate our 8th graders for 8th grade night. These amazing girls have worked harder the last three years than most people possible can imagine. Not just during their regular season, but every off season as well since 6th grade year. And it shows daily in their performance on the field this season. They are both girly and gritty, full of heart and determination, funny, kind and some of the finest athletes to come out of LMS softball. We’re proud of them.💪🫶🥎

LMS A Team beat Pine Grove 12-3 improving their record to 4-2 in conference play.

Game Highlights: Ashton Carter pitched a no hitter with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks for the win. Jolie Taibl made 2 diving double plays at shortstop. Addison Huling had a hard hit bomb to center field for a triple. Mila Montenegro came in clutch with 3 RBIs. All defense was on point. Offense swung aggressively at the plate and our runners were smart on the bases.

📣📣📣The Lowndes Middle Vikettes 🅰️ Team sweep the Bainbridge Lady Cats in a 2 game series‼️🚨

8th grader Ashton Carter got the win in game one with a 21-0 upset. She pitched a three inning shutout facing 14 batters with four strikeouts, walking 3 Lady Cats and giving up 1 hit.

8th grader Makensie Nichols got the win in game two with another 21-0 upset. Nichols also pitched a 3 inning shutout facing 11 batters with 7 strikeouts, walking none, and giving up no hits.

Congratulations to all of our players for good defense, swinging the bat, and aggressive base running!

Lowndes County Schools always keeps the safety of our staff and students as our top priority. Understanding Lowndes County is under a hurricane warning and could see hurricane-force winds, we will close schools and system offices tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30th. We encourage our families to follow Lowndes County Emergency Management and take all recommended safety measures. As we determine the impacts on Wednesday, we will make decisions regarding the remainder of the week.

Our LMS Vikette B Team will face off against the ECMS Lady Cats in our first home game of the season today!

🕓Game time is set for 4:00 PM! Come out to “The Orchard” @ LMS and cheer on our Vikettes!!! 🏟️

🅱️ Team Game Recap:

6th grade pitcher, Lucy Lehman, went 5 innings on the mound with 8 strike outs, 5 walks and giving up only 2 hits. One of those hits was to Lady Trojans’ catcher, Anniston Bozeman, which gave BCMS Lady Trojans a run in the bottom of the 3rd inning giving them a 1-0 lead.

The Vikettes’ Karstyn Hamby singled at the top of the 5th taking 2nd base on the steal with Everleigh Rogers up to bat. With a runner in scoring position, Rogers hit a double deep into center field, bringing Hamby in to score the tying run.

At the bottom of the 5th the Vikettes found themselves in trouble when the Lady Trojans loaded the bases with no outs and Bozeman back up to bat. On two strikes Bozeman hit a line drive to Lowndes shortstop, Mila Montenegro, for the 1st out. Montenegro threw back to the plate for the tag made by Jolie Taibl and 2nd out. The Vikettes then found another out at 2nd base when a Lady Trojan was left stranded off the bag during the hot shot play, making it a triple play ending the game (due to heat) in a tie.

What a game, ladies!!! So many girls putting the bat on the ball and playing hard on defense! We’re so proud of the heads up ball!!! Keep grinding!!!
