November is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness month. LAMP is committed to efforts that eradicate homelessness by tackling the root cause of the concern and provide individuals and families support services and innovative housing solutions that help put people on the path to a home.
To kickstart homeless awareness week, Director Yurshema Flanders and Developmemt & Fundraiser Consultant Amy Draper spoke to the VSU students from the Graduate Social Work Organization. We touched on the services LAMP provides to hundreds of individuals and families every year that are looking for a hand up and qualify for our homeless program and about how people end up homeless and how as a community we can work together to overcome homelessness.
VSU Graduate Social Work program collected sweaters, blankets, hats and toiletry items for the men and women, as well as diapers for the babies currently living in the shelter. Thanks Graduate Social Work Organization - GSWO

Thanks to the Valdosta Hurricanes Softball team out TODAY at the Boys and Girls Club Lake Laurie.
They are helping us restock the freezer for LAMP.
Anything helps: waffles, French fries, frozen meals, ANYTHING!!
Come see us at the Boys and Girls Club Lake Laurie!! Let’s restock the freezer at LAMP!
As we all recover from the impact of Hurricane Idalia we want to thank everyone again for their help.
We have been able to access the damage to the Shelter and there was water leakage inside affecting the staff offices, the commercial size refrigerator compressor is broken (and loss of all the food due to no power), and many trees of course were down but one ruined our shed and another hit the fence.
We were able to give an update to Senator Warnock and continue to take care of the residents.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you doesn't even begin to say how wonderful our community is. Thanks to everyone who donated time, food and supplies. Thanks again to Greater Valdosta United Way and Georgia Power for always supporting us. Thanks to the linemen who have been working tirelessly in our community.
