Survivors of child sexual abuse can, and most often do, go on to lead healthy and happy lives.
When a child receives support and therapy they are able to succeed in spite of the abuse!
Just like there is no typical victim of child sexual abuse, there is no typical abuser.
Men and women are both capable of abuse.
Men and women are also both capable of being the hero for a child by reporting abuse.
If you suspect a child is in imminent danger, call local law enforcement and make a report to Solano County 1-800-544-8696

Medical evidence is extremely rare in child sexual abuse cases.
That’s because children rarely report the abuse as it’s happening.
If you suspect a child is in imminent danger, call local law enforcement.
Child neglect is the most common type of abuse in the home. But YOU can make a difference by knowing the signs of possible neglect including:
• Poor hygiene
• Ill-fitting/unsuitable clothing
• Poor attendance
• Little or no medical care
If you suspect child neglect, report it.
If you suspect a child is in imminent danger, call local law enforcement.
We are excited to get to work in our communities with new funding from the Department of Health Care Services and Elevate Youth CA. Together we are rising for change. This project is supported by Elevate Youth California and funded through Proposition 64.

The most common lie children tell about child abuse is that it didn't happen. Let that sink in for a minute.
You can help a child who comes forward to report abuse by believing the child and reporting the abuse to authorities.

Close to 80% of abused children never tell anyone about their abuse. You can be a part of changing that. Give your child control over their own body. Empower your child to speak up. Believe a child who reports abuse. Report child abuse to local law enforcement and social services.
If you suspect a child is in imminent danger, call local law enforcement.

April 2024 marks the official 23rd anniversary of NSVRC's Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
A little history:
Social activism around the issue (1960s-1970s) - support for survivors and heightened awareness.
First sexual violence crisis center was founded in San Francisco in 1971, the same city where the first U.S. Take Back the Night event was held seven years later.
Violence Against Women Act of 1993 - survivors and advocates to call for legislation and funding that would support survivors
Early 2000s - raise awareness about the meaning of Sexual Assault Awareness Month & raise visibility with the teal ribbon
2010's & continuing to today - continue to raise visibility about sexual assault prevention through education and expand awareness.

Building Connected Communities helps us reduce the likelihood of sexual abuse, assault, and harassment in our communities. Any space where people come together is a community. We are all a part of a community.
Community is powerful. At the center of Building Connected Communities is ensuring our communities are safe, inclusive, and equitable. Racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, ageism, ableism, and other forms of oppression contribute to higher rates of sexual harassment, assault, and abuse. We must address all abuses of power to prevent sexual violence -- in our relationships, communities, and society.
Addressing the social and structural determinants of health, such as education, income, employment, community safety, and social support, is crucial to improving the conditions in which we live, learn, work, and play. Building Connected Communities brings us closer to the goal of health equity. Health equity means that everyone has a chance to achieve their best possible health.
We must strive to create strong, connected communities that take care of one another and make decisions to ensure the safety and well-being of all.
Join us in building connected communities that promote equity and respect, as our connections to one another have an impact more significant than just ourselves.
