For Elyse here, we decided to change it up this time by refining her existing highlights and blurring the grow out lines, toning the existing blonde & maintaining lowlights / depth. This is all done with a Color Melt!

My number one painful lesson from this past year: if I don’t MAKE myself a priority, then I will continue to take care of everyone else but ME. 🤦🏼‍♀️ The chronic people pleaser, good girl syndrome, and the desire to serve others above all else might make you feel like you are just doing the right thing, but if it is at the cost of your own well being then you’ve completely missed the mark. 🙅🏼‍♀️ It can take burn out, loss, a devasting diagnosis, or some other form but at some point, something’s gotta give!! 💣 Because let’s be real, how well are we really serving others when we are constantly pouring out from empty? 🫥 Why do we feel so guilty prioritizing ourselves and our needs? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Wellllll in case you needed to hear it, I’m here to give you PERMISSION & challenge you to start 👏 making 👏 yourself 👏 a 👏 priority 👏. Put on your oxygen mask first & all the rest will fall into place. 😇😘

I don’t know if anyone else shuffles with this but it’s an ongoing battle and decision for me. 🤓💪

In case no one has ever told you this… you don’t have to be natural OR a unicorn. You can do BOTH!! 💁🏻‍♀️👩🏻‍🎤

If you want fun unicorn colors but a bit more “lived-in”, a little more low maintenance, adding creative panels is SUCH a fun way to do that!! You don’t always have to give up fun colors when you go a bit more low maintence. 🦄🦄🦄

Thanks to different color techniques & technologies now, there are so many different ways to change it up a bit without having to come in every few weeks to refresh a fun color. There are custom shampoos, permanent colors that last a lot longer, and a ton of other customizable options! 🌈

Plus, if you ask me, a lived-in vivid color like this feels more elevated and high end than a whole head of fantasy color 🤷🏼‍♀️ Just saying 😇

4 WAYS TO CHANGE UP A HAIRCUT 💇🏽‍♀️

1. Layers - Creates volume, texture, movement. Layers make for easier styling, less weight, and play super well with curly hair! 💁🏻‍♀️

2. Fringe / Bangs - Softens the look & adds some fun play room around the face. More polished, less effort. Even with hair up in a messy bun, bangs make for a chic upgrade! ⚡️

3. Length - Changing up the length of the hair is such a fun way to create big change. I’m always game for a big chop! 💇🏼‍♀️

4. Shape - Changing the shape can totally change up the entire look. Whether it’s long layers to a modern s**g, or a one length chic french bob to a fun, piecey bixie, it can really change the vibe without always having to majorly alter the length. 🌿

when blondes decide to take 2 steps closer to the dark side 😈 we’re calling this one “teddy bear bronde” 🐻 for Megan, we went with a lovely matte / ashier vibe color melt to drag the roots down a bit & then to ice out her blonde for a soft yet dimensional bronde effect ✨

Sometimes, a highlight / lightening isn’t the right call. And for a lot of my clients going a little darker & more low maintenance, colors like this are a great fit! Where we only have to bring the blonde up every 2-3 sessions. 😇 and it keeps it SO healthy and shiny, which I’m all about!! 👏👏👏

This beauty wanted a more low maintenance color & to feel more like her natural bronde self so we took her slightly grown out highlights and converted them to a rich, dimensional color! 🤘 We blurred all the grow-out lines, kept the root-y magic flowing, and accentuated depth in all the right places with a Color Melt and an Acidic Milk Rinse Treatment for even better longevity. 😍 And the result is stunning! Creating a lower maintenance color allows for her to go bit longer between visits, and be able to spend a little less time & money in the salon as well which is a win-win for a busy baddie on a budget! 🙌 Have you been tempted to go back to your roots or to simplify your color lately? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wanna know the secret to creating pretty, voluminous beach waves without totally frying your hair with heat damage? 😇

👏U S E 👏 H E A T 👏 P R O T E C T A N T 👏

If you are using a flat iron or a curling iron, or even a blow dryer, there should always be some form of heat protection applied to the hair first. Do we go out into the blazing summer heat without sunscreen?! Your hair health can be significantly compromised by using direct heat on it which makes it drier, frizzier, duller, and can cause breakage. ☠️

I personally love using the No6 bond smoother as my leave-in protectant when the hair is wet prior to blowdrying. Applied throughout the hair, it softens, hydrates & smooths while also protecting against heat damage. 💪 For dry styling, I love the 7 Seconds Glossing Spray. Applied prior to using hot tools like a flat iron or curling iron, it protects the hair up to 450 degrees and is super lightweight! 🪶 (Not sticky like most thermal protectant sprays 🙄)

Pastels colors require the hair to be lightened to platinum blonde in order to show true to tone & create that pretty, sparkly feeling to the color. ✨ There is usually a full day transformational session where we focus on creating the desired palette from wherever you’re starting from and it is a whole experience! We get to know each other real well and create hair magic! These sessions are usually an upfront time & financial investment where you also make sure you have all the right products to maintain the new color & I teach you all about how to keep it healthy & make the color last as long as possible!
Then depending on the color palette we do, we schedule maintenance sessions 4-8 weeks out where we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor & switch up the tones & play with it even more! 😃🪄🌈
