From https://denimday.org/
Denim Day is a campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a r**e conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who r**ed her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.
Denim Day asks community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion statement by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround s*xual violence. *xualassaultawareness
In order to prevent s*xual violence we must understand and address risk and protective factors at the individual, relational, community, and societal levels. (Excerpt from the Centers for Disease Control)

*xualassault
Sexual violence is an umbrella term that includes any type of unwanted s*xual contact — including s*xual assault, harassment, and abuse.
A community can be any place where people gather - for example, in person, online, at work or at school. Connection helps ensure our communities are safe, inclusive, and equitable. Addressing the social and structural determinants of health, such as education, income, employment, community safety, and social support, is crucial to improving the conditions in which we live, learn, work, and play. This reduces the contributing factors to s*xual violence perpetration and increases protective factors for everyone. Connected communities that take care of one another and ensure the safety and well-being of others can end s*xual violence.
