Help us fill backpacks before school starts ✏️

It's back-to-school time! That means parents are rushing to find items on supply lists. And many of them are struggling to afford it all. On average, they spend over $670 per child on clothes, supplies, backpacks, technology and more.

With inflation stretching budgets, checking everything off this year is a heavy burden. Donate today to help struggling parents at salarmy.us/lovebeyondbacktoschool

Fighting poverty is a year-round challenge ❤️

Our mission to LOVE BEYOND poverty isn't pro this or pro that. It's proactive. It's protective. And your donations help us to continue to fight.

The cycle of poverty is the source of so many spiraling problems. Addiction. Overdue bills. Hunger. Loveliness. Eviction. For 156 years, The Salvation Army has loved those who feel lost and, with your help, we will never stop.

Did you know that each year, we provide over 10 million nights of lodging to those in need?

Providing a home is so much more than wood, plaster or bricks it was built with. It’s a feeling of comfort and safety. It’s a family that welcomes you with open arms. And most importantly, it’s the unconditional love that surrounds you from the moment you arrive.

We deliver this feeling of home to everyone who walks in our doors. Sometimes that means shelter, a warm meal, someone to talk to or a place for spiritual healing.

Did you know that every dollar donated is invested back into your local programs?

Every community has different and diverse needs, and we recognize that it's important to be able to offer evolving programs to adapt to those needs. We strive to fill in the gaps and help provide people with pathways out of trouble.

We also know we can't do it alone. That's why building partnerships with our donors and communities is so important. When you make a donation, we want to ensure you that it is being reinvested in your community.

Celebrate Salvation Army Week!

President Dwight D. Eisenhower declared National Salvation Army Week in 1954. Since then, it's served as a reminder for Americans to love beyond themselves to make a difference in their communities. This week, we encourage you to learn more about the work we do and find a way to contribute.

From something as small as writing a note of encouragement to something bigger like volunteering weekly, every act of love can make an impact.

Meet Terell, a graduate of our Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) in San Jose ❤️ After completing the six-month, no-fee rehabilitation program, graduates have the opportunity to continue living at the ARC while they find stable employment. Once that step is completed, they can apply to the transitional living program.

The strain of the last few years has led many people to substance abuse. We are here to help them find a way out. With a graduation rate three times that of comparable programs, we recognize that every path to recovery looks a little different. For some, this means needing a supportive place to live. For others, it's connecting with family, culture and nature.

Meet Charlie, a former resident of he The Salvation Army Bell Shelter! As a resident, he volunteered in the small garden on site.

Recognizing his talents, the director offered him a larger plot across the street, and he's been growing loads of healthy vegetables for the homeless ever since. It's a joy to see him recognized for doing the most good in his community.

Celebrating Women's History Month ♀️ Remembering Evangeline Booth (First Female General of The Salvation Army)

As one of eight children in the Booth family, Catherine grew up spreading the mission of The Salvation Army, quickly gaining a reputation as a capable leader. She spearhead significant fund-raising efforts to support the survivors of the 1905 San Francisco earthquake and soldiers on the front lines during World War I. In 1934, she became the first woman elected General by the High Council. Learn More

Today, women continue to define and embody our mission in roles across the organization. We salute their contributions and celebrate the rich history of diversity within our ranks.
