WINTER SOLSTICE‼️ December 21st marks this year's winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, bringing the shortest day and longest night of the year. Winter is here!

❄️ SNOWY MITTENS: A Winter Adventure is a delightful celebration of Black joy. This new picture book from author Shauntay Grant shares the simple joys of a day spent playing in the snow.

Here's the publisher's description: Follow along as a young boy spends the day sledding and ice skating with his family in this spare and poetic picture book. With a simple story--and simply stunning color illustrations from Candice Bradley--Snowy Mittens is an ode to celebrating winter's coziest wonders, big and small.

Today we celebrate the Winter Solstice as it heralds the Indian New Year.
As Columbia Plateau Tribes, we rejoice in the bountiful return of our sacred First Foods. As our brothers and sisters are being nourished by winter's snow, we gather in gratitude to the Creator and honor this cycle of renewal.

Today, we celebrate the roots and berries that sustain us.

We give thanks for all our relatives that stood themselves up to take care of us as Indigenous People. As part of that covenant, we as tribal people have in turn promised to take care of the land, and all that lives within it.

This season marks spiritual rejuvenation and community unity, embracing the wisdom of nature's cycles. With hearts full of appreciation, we extend warm wishes for abundance and blessings to all, as we welcome the New Year with reverence and joy.
