ATTENTION, PICKLEBALL PLAYERS | Are you doing everything you can to avoid injury while playing?
Orthopaedic injuries are quite common, so we compiled a list of tips to share with you before you hit the court next:
1️⃣ Warm up properly before playing. This can help prevent strains and sprains.
2️⃣ Wear appropriate shoes with good traction to prevent slips and falls.
3️⃣ Focus on proper technique and form when hitting the ball to avoid overuse injuries.
4️⃣ Take breaks and rest when needed. Overuse injuries can occur from playing too much, too often.
5️⃣ Strengthen your muscles and improve your flexibility with targeted exercises.
6️⃣ Don’t forget to cool down after your match. It is important to help your body properly recover and rest.
If you sustain an injury while playing pickleball, schedule an appointment with one of our specialists by calling (478) 787-4054.

FIREWORKS SAFETY | Although we would prefer our patients to avoid lighting off fireworks altogether, we understand some still will. So, if you must, please read through these firework safety tips before the holiday!
💥 Keep a Safe Distance: Stand at least 500 feet away from where fireworks are being ignited. It's better to enjoy the show from afar!
💥 Adult Supervision: Never let children handle fireworks, even sparklers. Adult supervision is key to preventing accidents.
💥 Protective Eyewear: Don't forget to wear protective eyewear to shield your eyes from sparks and debris.
💥 Proper Handling: Always follow the instructions on the fireworks packaging. Mishandling can lead to serious injuries.
💥 Emergency Preparedness: Have a first aid kit handy, just in case. It's better to be overprepared than caught off guard.
We hope you have a safe and memorable holiday!

CYCLING + HIP TIGHTNESS | If you’re a cyclist, then there’s a good chance you’re familiar with tight hips.
When cycling, your body is in a forward-leaning position with your legs pushing down on the pedals repeatedly. This can cause the hip flexors to shorten and tighten over time, leading to discomfort and pain. To combat this, it's important for cyclists to stretch regularly, especially focusing on their hip flexors.
