Top 3 tips to enjoy your thanksgiving meal:

1. Give yourself permission to eat whatever the hell you want- oftentimes restriction just leads to overconsumption in the long run.

2. Stay hydrated with WATER- limit the consumption of booze to avoid a lot of the empty calories and to avoid looking the fool that your family talks about next Thanksgiving.

3. Aim for weight maintenance instead of weight loss - most of us pack on at least a pound (or more) during the holidays. So strive on making smart decisions so you have less to lose for your New Years Resolution.

Are you eating too much Omega 6?

OMEGA 3 VS OMEGA 6

Omega-3 fats are a crucial part of human cell membranes. They have a number of important functions, including improving heart health, supporting mental health, and preventing dementia.

Omega 6 fatty acids are essential fatty acids that the body needs for normal growth and development.

The recommended ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids in the diet is 4:1 or less. However, the Western diet has a ratio between 10:1 and 50:1 !!

Excessive amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids can promote the pathogenesis of many diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

HOW MUCH CARBS DO YOU REALLY NEED?

As a baseline, I recommend most moderately active men start with consuming 6-8 cupped handfuls of carb dense foods each day. For most moderately active women, start with consuming 4-6 cupped handfuls of carb dense foods.

WHY USE HAND PORTIONS TO TRACK CARBS?

1. Hands are portable. They come with you to work lunches, restaurants, social gatherings, etc.

2. Hands are a consistent size, providing a consistent reference.

3. Hands scale with the individual. Bigger people need more food, and tend to have bigger hands, therefore getting larger portions. Smaller people need less food, and tend to have smaller hands, therefore getting smaller portions.

4. Hand-size portions can help you track food choices, nutrients, and energy simply and easily. This saves time-consuming and often unnecessary weighing and measuring, which most people don’t need.

Protein doesn't have to come from just animal products.

I've had many clients say to me, Naira, I can't eat a lot of meat. I don't feel good afterwards. I totally respect that, BUT that doesn't give you an excuse to not reach your daily minimum protein requirements for good health.

When most people think of protein, they think of muscles. Yes, protein is important in building muscle tissue, but protein serves other critical purposes in our diet, especially when you think about burning fat and building muscle.
⭐️ Protein stabilizes your blood sugar which is very important in fat loss.
⭐️ It builds more lean muscle mass. More muscle elevates resting metabolism and allows you to burn more calories throughout the day.
⭐️ It keeps you full and wards off hunger. Think less desire for junk or snack foods.
⭐️ Eating protein burns more calories. It takes more calories to digest a gram of protein than it does to digest a gram of fat or carbohydrate.

St. Patrick’s Day 2021 🍀
I was sitting in a local law firm’s conference room taking a workshop on trademarks.

Half the world was still shut down, but here I was, educating myself on how to properly file a trademark for GRIP Life so I could save a couple grand than let the lawyers do it for me. I made due with the resources I had. I had time on my side.

I have a vision I am set to live out.

Helping individuals “Get a grip!” on their life instead of settling for the mediocre one like I had fallen victim to.

Don’t get me wrong. My life was pretty great. For the individual looking on the outside, many people would dream to switch places.

But I knew I was destined for more. Just like many others are capable of but allow life to beat them down into submission.

It’s time to get a grip on your life.

I’m not just building a brand.
I’m fulfilling a mission.
It’s my calling.

I get people that ask me, “Is nutrition coaching all you do?”

“I see you’re a personal trainer. What are the best exercises for ”

I’m not just a nutrition coach, personal trainer, or CPA. Though I do use my background in these areas along with age old yogic principles to help individuals “Get a grip!” on their life.

The answer to your problems may not be as simple as changing your diet or starting a new exercise program. It’s the underlying issues that are remaining unaddressed that stop you from really living the life of your dreams.

Some call it limiting beliefs, mindset, self-sabotage, negative thinking, karma, bad habits, etc.

Call it whatever you’d like but it’s the unseen force that guides your life without your conscious awareness. Until… you bring it back to your conscious awareness and change it to ultimately change the trajectory of your life.

I am a Life Transformation Coach.

If you’ve ever felt stuck in your life, no matter what you’ve tried, whether that’s a new diet, getting another membership, joining a gym, buying a course, investing in a coach and nothing has worked yet…
I want you to take a step back for a moment and reflect.

5 Do's and Don'ts of healthy eating habits.

1. DON'T skip breakfast. (you'll slow your metabolism)
DO eat a well-balanced breakfast with protein, carbs, and fat.

2. DON'T eat in front of a screen. (mindless snacking leads to overconsumption)
DO enjoy your meals without multitasking.

3. DON'T clean your plate for the sake of cleaning your plate.
DO eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full.

4. DON'T replace food with water to minimize your hunger cues.
DO drink a glass of water before each meal (it's common for people to eat when they're actually thirsty)

5. DON'T eat your feelings. (it doesn't work in the long run)
DO find healthy alternatives to cope with your emotions.

I remember when I thought I needed to follow the latest diet or “superfood” trend to lose weight and stay fit.

I thought I wasn’t doing enough.
I thought I needed to do more cardio.
I thought I needed to eat less.
I thought I was doomed with my genetics.

I even thought it was because of the fluoride in the water! 🤯
…well, that’s besides the point… we’ll get to that later…

Point blank, I thought wrong.

If people mastered the basic three, nutrition would improve DRASTICALLY. And your life would DRASTICALLY change. Not because of a gigantic change in diet or lifestyle, but simply from a one degree shift.

It wasn’t until I started to work on shifting my mindset and approaching nutrition in a holistic way that it all clicked for me.

Master these basics and your life will change:
