Down 15-40? Serve here...
If you find yourself serving down double break point, you want to keep the point short. Statistically speaking, shorter points favor the server, and longer points favor the returner.
Analytics wiz Craig O'Shannessy shares one of Roger Federer's favorite strategies for opening up the court and approaching the net so you can claw your way back into the game and hopefully hold serve.

This tip is from 17-time Grand Slam Doubles Champion Gigi Fernandez. Her "finish at 2" rule makes high volleys, low volleys, and half volleys a piece of cake! :-)
Here are a couple ninja doubles return strategies you can use to take control of the net!
The drop shot - lob combo is one of the most effective plays in the book. So when it comes to your doubles game, how can you defend against it?
With a play called "The Preacher," which was taught to me by the Bryan Brothers.
Roger Federer's favorite serve play is called "Serve +1", because it lets him follow up his serve with a forehand as often as possible. In this video we add a twist that Federer, Rafa, and a lot of other pros use to make the play even more effective.
We'll call the updated play "Serve +1a", and it lets you get to the net and end the point. You don't see the serve and volley as much as you used to because it's been replaced by "Serve +1a", and it's something YOU can use to play aggressively even if you don't have the greatest volleys in the world.
In doubles, how should you return in the ad court when you're facing a really aggressive poacher? Typical advice would be to hit bigger, aim lower, or go down the line.
Today I want to share a return tip I learned from Martina Navratilova. It's a little counterintuitive, but it works great, so give it a whirl and let me know how it goes in the comments!
Doesn't matter if you're a 3.0, 5.0, or a professional tennis player. Everyone wants to reduce the number of errors they make.
A lot of club players think the key to reducing errors is to improve their technique, and while that's big, it's not just about HOW you hit. It's also about WHERE you hit.
Federer Vs Nadal in the Wimbledon Semis! Here's my preview and prediction for the match.
Rafa is going to use his go-to play called "The Battering Ram" against Roger. Is it going to work this time? Leave your predictions in the comments!

If you picked up a copy of "The Doubles Playbook," I'd be super grateful if you would take a minute to share your experiences using it so far so other folks who are considering it can get a better idea if it's right for them.
Please leave a quick comment that includes these 3 things:
1) What's your NTRP (if you know it)
2) Any cool match results you've had thanks to "The Doubles Playbook."
3) Your favorite play. OR a big problem the playbook solved.
Appreciate it!...
And as my way of saying "thanks for taking the time," when you leave a comment I'll send you a message with access information to VolleyRx, where you'll learn the 3 types of volleys: The Catch, The Hammer, and The Brick Wall. Awesome program, so just leave a comment and I'll hook you up! :-)
Thanks again!
Doubles Players! Here are the BEST and WORST times to poach. In this video Martina Navratilova and Gigi Fernandez are going to show you the "tells" you need to look for to be able to anticipate where the ball is going to cross the net.

Doubles players! Use a play called "The Upgrade" and stop watching poachable balls whiz by you. This is a unique way of poaching in the ad court and if you're right-handed this tip will be particularly helpful!

This is Martina Navratilova's absolute favorite time to poach. It's a little bit sneaky, so chances are you aren't using it.
