Great morning meeting with so many newly elected county auditors, treasurers and council members today from around the state. Enjoyed discussing how our offices, along with several other state offices, work together to better serve Hoosier taxpayers. Looking forward to working with this group of leaders!

🏆 National Engineers Week - Toothpick Bridge Challenge 2023 🏆

For National Engineers Week, local engineering professional societies and volunteers held a toothpick building bridge challenge. Students from the local area were provided an opportunity to get involved with engineering and were encouraged to build a toothpick bridge. Teachers and professionals also entered the contest, which was held at the University Town Center and was followed by an awards ceremony. This year’s Professional Team Award was presented to Peter Peduzzi, P.E., representing Sarasota County, Capital Projects. Congratulations Peter!! The trophy and bragging rights are now back home with Capital Projects after a 3 year winning streak by Stantec. Peter’s A-Frame bridge had the highest load-to-weight ratio that held 83 lbs. and weighed 30 grams. Congratulations to all those that participated!

Great Idea is a grassroots organization in Volyn. When Russia’s full-scale invasion created a massive need for humanitarian supplies, CSBG helped Great Idea transform its work from supporting students to running a scale-scale logistics center for humanitarian shipments.

What began as a small effort to collect humanitarian aid at a local school has grown into an operation responsible for distributing aid to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians in hard-hit communities. Today, Deputy Secretary David Turk was in California with the White House to discuss how the Biden Administration is investing in Latino communities and centering equity in America's clean energy transition. Under President Biden and Secretary Granholm's leadership, DOE is requiring—for the first time—that Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant recipients create Community Benefit Plans to demonstrate how they're investing in America’s workforce, engaging labor, advancing equity/accessibility, and more. Together, the DOE and the Biden Administration are working to meet the goals of President Biden's Justice40 mission and ensure that underserved and overburdened communities not only benefit from the clean energy transition, but are central to its mission and success.

Every community deserves access to reliable, safe water. EPA Administrator Michael Regan heard from community members in McDowell County, West Virginia on the longstanding challenges they face with inadequate drinking water and wastewater systems — and saw their resilient, innovative solutions to make up for a lack of resources.

Through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and EPA's joint initiative with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (Closing America’s Wastewater Access Gap), we are partnering with this community - and rural communities across the country - to make needed improvements in water infrastructure.

Happy 🎊🎊 Thanksgiving everyone. What are you thankful for? 🦃

We are so very thankful for our storm debris removal contractors. We hope they're enjoying their holiday time, back with their friends and families.

You may not know this, but quite a few of our storm debris contractors are from out of state, meaning they've been spending more than seven weeks away from home to help restore our community.

As a reminder, debris collection is currently paused for the holiday and will resume on Monday, Nov. 28. And for more information regarding Solid Waste, visit Csbg1.godaddysites.com

I was honored this morning to attend the grand opening of the Clorox Company's new cat litter manufacturing plant in Martinsburg.

This facility will bring a projected $190 million to the local economy.

Clorox is a world-class company, and we are honored to have more Clorox manufacturing facilities in WV than any other state. They know that we have a great workforce of people willing to work hard and get the job done right!

Every November, the CSBG observes Alzheimer's Awareness Month. Last week, Community Service Block Grant {CSBG} hosted the annual event in the courthouse atrium in Historic Downtown Smithfield, NC.

The ceremony featured uplifting speeches, a musical performance, and a candlelight vigil commemorating those who have passed and those who are presently living with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias, as well as their committed caregivers.
