HMF is proud and honored to have supported with their amazing work through our microgrant program from last year! ✨
IGE Co-Founder, Amanda McDowall, shares how their girls in South Bronx, NY have worked with their teaching artist and social worker to create impactful shifts in their confidence and emotional wellbeing. Their group of girls who started off the program feeling shy, nervous and unsure of themselves have grown into building confidence and learned tools for self-regulation. 🎭🎤
In May, IGE had the opportunity to host a corporate panel for the girls, in which three women working in the corporate space were able to share their stories of career success to help the girls learn leadership skills by asking questions and openly speaking and engaging with the panel. Later this month, the girls will also put on a play that they’ve created together to showcase what they’ve learned on how to navigate and discuss difficult situations they face as young women in the world, with topics ranging from crushes, to dealing with anxiety, and career and life responsibilities.
We’re so happy to know that our work is helping organizations like IGE continue to support their community! 💜💜
April is Autism Acceptance Month! 🩵
During this month, organizations and people nationwide focus on supporting and uplifting those with autism, working towards making care and health equity more accessible for them. To show your support this month, here are some things you can do:
1. Learn about autism
2. Reach out and listen to parents of a child or individuals with autism
3. Talk to children about accepting and including individuals who have different needs, especially if you work in education
4. Recognize strengths rather than just difficulties of people with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
5. Advocate for parents and individuals
Remember, rather than just being aware, we as a community and society must work towards accepting others with more specific needs and strive towards inclusivity!
We hope those who celebrated had a fun St. Patrick’s Day yesterday! 🍀💚
St. Patrick’s Day is a day observing the passing of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Over the years, this holiday has evolved to a celebration of Irish culture with parades, special foods, dancing and more. The city of Chicago even has their own special tradition of dyeing their river green (non-toxic and environmentally-friendly)!
Happy International Women’s Day!! 💖💐

February is Black History Month!!
Black History Month is an annual celebration of historical and new achievements by African Americans. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history. How can we celebrate this day? Become educated on Black history, support Black businesses, read books written by Black authors and uplift Black voices in your community. Remember that, although Black History Month is only during the month of February, we must always be in support of POC within our communities and society.

Happy December everyone! Today we’re excited to share that HMF will be supporting the advocacy campaign by , a national grassroots organization fighting for better care for people with vulvova**nal and pelvic pain!
OB/GYNs are the go-to providers for all things va**na, yet they don’t receive education on common chronic pain conditions. There are real consequences to this lack of training. Many patients go years struggling in pain and searching for a doctor who can treat them. Tight Lipped is trying to change that! Their campaign advocates for every OB/GYN program to teach about these conditions. For every donation made, HMF will be matching for up to $20,000! Please help us in supporting this important cause to bring people with chronic vulvova**nal and pelvic pain the care and support they need. Please follow the link in our bio to donate!

Thanksgiving is a holiday which holds positive aspects such as spending time with loved ones and enjoying delicious food in community. However, we must always be mindful of the false narrative behind this holiday and the fact that it often ignores the more than 400 years of cruelty faced by Native Americans.
The background of this holiday started when President Abraham Lincoln established the holiday back in November 1863 during the Civil War as a means to improve relations between the North and South, as well as with tribal nations. However, a mass ex*****on of Dakota tribal members had taken place the year before - they were starved and some were later executed after trying to fight back. President Lincoln felt this holiday could mitigate the hard feelings between the United States government and First Nation peoples.
Knowing this history and being mindful doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the day! Many Americans are able to receive the day off and it’s one where they have the time to travel and see family and friends. Instead, let this day serve as a reminder to not only give thanks, but to show empathy to others.
Earlier this year, HMF began our new grant project, the Widow’s Welfare Project. In partnership with the Education and Life (ENL) Foundation, we’ve worked to support widowed women and children in Pakistan by providing food packages, clothing and financial assistance for education and skill development in trades like mechanics, computer operations, sewing, and hairstyling.
From the past year we’ve been able to receive positive reports from the communities we support, and we wanted to share the positive impacts in the lives of widows and young children in Pakistan. We are deeply honored to support each family and individual, and we hope that sharing their stories can touch the lives of others.
Congratulations to our 5 microgrant recipients!! 🎉✨ This year was one of our most competitive for the Women’s Health & Wellness microgrant. The selection process was very difficult, so we give big kudos to the 5 organizations selected which showed exemplary work and great passion. Congratulations to:

Today we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day which is observed on the second Monday in October and replaces Columbus Day.
Celebrating Columbus and other explorers like him dismisses the horrible and devastating losses indigenous peoples have experienced due to colonialism. Those effects are still felt today. To celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, inform yourself on the historical inaccuracies, listen to and promote indigenous perspectives and voices, and advocate for movements and changes supporting indigenous communities.
