A Daytona Beach Police Officer was shot in the head Wednesday night while investigating a man in a suspicious car. The Officer is a twenty-six year old, three-year veteran, who has not been identified and remains in critical condition following emergency surgery. A manhunt is ongoing for the suspect, Othal Wallace, a twenty-nine year-old African American who is driving a grey 2016 Honda HRV bearing California license plate .

Honoring American Law Enforcement (HALE) joins with the International Union of Police Associations who represent the Daytona Beach Police Department in expressing that this brave officer, as well as his friends and family, will remain in our thoughts and prayers. We also pray for the success and safety of those involved in the search for Wallace.

The Committee at HALE strongly encourages support of politicians who believe in the importance of supporting the men and women of law enforcement. There simply is no room for politics in deciding who receives police service; nor is there when it comes to honoring those that have made the ultimate sacrifice.

As depicted by this news piece, the decision to not support/honor the fallen honor was disgraceful.

Political leadership which chooses to promulgate a negative rhetoric aimed at dishonoring the law enforcement career only brings shame upon themselves and does not deserve your vote. To be clear, any police chief who cannot separate the politics from the mayor that may dictate, or any sheriff holding constitutional office that allows their self-directed decisions to be persuaded by political rhetoric needs to resign immediately.
