๐ Happy Juneteenth!
Today, we commemorate the end of slavery in the United States while celebrating equality, freedom, and resilience.
As we honor this historic day, let us also remember the importance of caring for our hearts.
Did you know heart disease and stroke are the leading causes of death among Black Americans?
Here are some heart-healthy ways to celebrate Juneteenth:
Cook heart-healthy meals. Celebrate with delicious dishes that are good for your heart. Add plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins to your Juneteenth feast.
Get active. Take a walk, go for a bike ride, or dance to your favorite music. Physical activity is great for your heart health and overall well-being.
Learn about your family health history. Use this day to talk to your loved ones about their health history. Understanding your risk factors for heart disease and stroke can help you take steps to protect your heart.
Letโs honor the past, celebrate the present, and build a healthier future together!
