Five and Thrive! The DefeatDD team celebrated a global health success story – more children than ever are reaching their fifth birthday!
Yesterday we were on Capitol Hill in Washington DC celebrating the progress made in global maternal, newborn, and ! Alongside partners, we participated in a block party event to acknowledge a historic global health milestone - more kids than ever reaching their 5th birthday.
The team hosted a game to teach participants about the gold standard treatment for diarrhea - combined oral rehydration solution (ORS) and zinc!

Diarrhea is a leading cause of malnutrition in children under five, and malnourished children are more vulnerable to infection. Breastfeeding provides ideal nourishment and helps develop a baby’s immune system. Nutrients in breast milk develop antibodies that fight diarrheal infections.

A “Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2024” will begin July 1 to reach zero under-five deaths due to acute diarrheal diseases in Tamil Nadu, India. The campaign includes distribution and availability of oral rehydration salt (ORS) and zinc tablets, handwashing initiatives, and other prevention efforts.
