We 🖤 these Conversations with Baltimore Racial Justice Action! They're hosting another TOMORROW, June 18th from 10-11:30am ET called "Robbing Employers or Increasing Productivity: The 4-Day Work Week."
Learn about the potential of the 4-day workweek in enhancing productivity and employee well-being - all through an anti-racism/anti-oppression lens. Discover how reducing work hours can lead to more creativity, energy, and efficiency, benefiting both employers and employees alike.
Register for $15 on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/robbing-employers-or-increasing-productivity-the-4-day-work-week-tickets-764941349167
Tomorrow!
What if we told you there was a way to increase productivity by giving employees MORE TIME OFF - for the same pay? That what tends to happen is not a fall-off in work, but more energetic, creative, and yes, productive work? The 4-day workweek as opposed to 5 is shown in preliminary studies to do these things. Since sometimes our tasks expand to fit the time we allocate to them, and since our “fresh” minds are better able to think creatively and quickly, there are a lot of reasons that a 4-day week might be just as good as a 5-day week - for employers. Further, employees feel valued and can build more rest and relaxation into their weekly schedules are less likely to burn out and more likely to stay with an organization over the long haul - another benefit to employers. Win-win? Let’s talk.

Such internationalism recognizes the shaping role of American global primacy both at home and abroad, and the reality that meaningful internal change cannot occur without comparable external shifts."

Shoutout to our colleague Deepa Iyer from Building Movement Project for writing about the growing threats social justice nonprofits face and the urgent need for solidarity and support ✊
In our divided political climate, nonprofits fighting for reproductive justice, immigrant rights, race equity, LGBTQ rights, and Palestinian solidarity are under attack. They’re dealing with safety threats, negative media, funding cuts, and now, even government scrutiny. These pressures are making it incredibly tough for them to do their critical work.
Deepa’s piece highlights how philanthropy and nonprofit allies can step up by offering financial support, public backing, and stronger infrastructure. It’s a call to action for all of us to come together and lend support!

“The prevailing advice of ‘work twice as hard to get twice as far’ has woven itself into the fabric of Black women’s professional journeys, shaping not only their careers but their lives. “We Specialize in the Wholly Impossible”: Navigating Three Black Women Tropes in Leadership (PAGE 18) is a must-read article written by EIC President and CEO Kerrien Suarez and Service Never Sleeps Founder and CEO Whitney Parnell!
"We seek to have room for error, growth, and balance. However, when we ask for help, there’s little support, due to the Mammy trope. When we give instruction for alleviation, we are the Angry Black Woman. There is no relief at the top of the glass cliff."
Thanks to The Nonprofit Quarterly for featuring this article in their latest issue which focuses on Black women leaders 🖤
Spring 2024 Digital Issue - Non Profit News | Nonprofit Quarterly This edition of Nonprofit Quarterly Magazine is a resounding no in the face of the travesty that Black women leaders, and other women of color leaders, have been contending with in the sector.
“…Many people don’t want to be led by leaders of color. You want our brilliance, but not our authority. And changing that will take more than imagination. It will take heart.”
