Happy 4th of July
It was another great weekend at our capstone camping trip and the end of another great year of scouting. See you in September, Capitol Hill.
It was a great day for the Pack 230 Service project and to be cleaning up our community as part of the Anacostia Watershed Society’s Earth Day clean up.
Our Lion Scouts (kindergarten) enjoyed the Cherry Blossoms while working on their Gizmos and Gadgets adventure.
Congratulations to our Pack 230 Pinewood Derby Race and Artistic Winners!
Thank you to the Capitol Hill Community Foundation for their generous grant which allowed us to procure equipment to build our cars.
Thanks to MPD for meeting with our Lion Scouts. It was so much fun and they learned a lot.
Great kick off to the year with our first pack meeting. We learned all about camping - from setting up a tent to how to eat a s’more. All the essentials.
Please support the Troop 500 Pancake Breakfast on Saturday to support their High Adventure trips this summer. See the details.
Pack 230 got off the hill and headed out to Fletcher's boat house to learn about fishing, the annual shad run and to play some field games. It was a beautiful day and the scouts all had fun.
Congratulations to our Den 9 Scouts who just completed their final requirement for their Arrow of Light--the highest rank in Cub Scouts.
This afternoon they met with Congressman Glenn Thompson of Pennsylvania and completed the Building a Better World requirement. He is a Distinguished Eagle Scout with a 50+ year record of supporting Scouting. He co-chairs the Congressional Scouting Caucus and was very generous with his time today. This was a fantastic way to complete these Scouts' Pack 230 Cub Scout career.
Hey stargazers and space fans, you're invited to a FREE astronomy program on Saturday, April 2, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial. On the 64th anniversary of President Eisenhower’s proposal to create NASA, join experts from NASA and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, as well as our partners at the Trust for the National Mall for telescope viewing of the Orion Nebula, colored double stars, and brilliant star clusters, along with out-of-this-world discussions. The memorial is located on Independence Avenue, SW between 4th and 6th Streets, across the street from the Air and Space Museum. Learn more: nationalmall.org/calendar/eisenhower-under-the-stars

Thanks to the Naval Lodge #4 for again hosting our Pinewood Derby. You help make the event special for our scouts.
We had a great campout this weekend at Camp Snyder, Haymarket, VA. This morning, our cub scouts made their own fun! They braved the below freezing temps without complaint and survived the adult skit.
Thanks to Coach, and Olympian, Nat Mills for talking to Pack 230 at our February meeting. We had a great time learning about speed skating and out on the ice.
Congratulations to Charles Allen, Jr, 2022 NOESA Honoree!

Georgetown Lutheran Church turned to Troop 500 and Pack 230 when their regular tree supplier did not sell trees this year.
Thank you Georgetown Lutheran for decorating your church with one of our trees!
This is how their 12’ tree looks now that it is fully decorated in the church.
All sold out of our trees and wreaths. Thanks to everyone for supporting Pack 230 and Troop 500.
Here is the last tree sold.
We have a few more Christmas Trees left to sell on Sunday. Like this beautiful 12’ Frazier Fir! But not too many. Come early—830 or 9 AM. 212 East Capitol.
Thanks to everyone that has bought a tree or wreath from us this year. Our Scouts appreciate all the support.
