I had a great time touring Southern Virginia University yesterday with Representative Blake Moore. Our visit included an insightful conversation with the new President, Bonnie Cordon, and an engaging discussion with bright students who asked thoughtful questions about committee selection and the importance of civic engagement.

It’s fantastic to hear about the buzz surrounding the new exhibit at the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum in Wi******er. The “Discover the Valley 2.0” display offers children a wonderful opportunity to explore and experience the agricultural life that defines the Shenandoah Valley.

I encourage everyone in Virginia's Sixth District to visit our local museums to appreciate the rich history and foundation of our great region.

I had a great morning yesterday at Blue Ridge Christian’s Upper School in Dayton, speaking about the importance of our government and the Constitution. These bright students asked excellent questions and offered great insights about critical issues that are facing Virginia’s Sixth District and our Nation.

I had an excellent visit to Shenandoah Community Health in Wi******er today. It was great to see firsthand the essential work they’re doing to ensure access to healthcare and wellness services in the Sixth District.

It was great to see familiar faces and new ones at the Rockingham County Farm Bureau 73rd Annual Membership Dinner at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds last night. Thank you for the tireless work of RCFB and all Farm Bureaus protecting farming and agriculture across Virginia’s Sixth District.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of presenting a plaque from the Congressional Record to Michael McKee, CEO of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, in honor of his 2024 John van Hengel Fellowship Award.

For over a decade, Michael has led the food bank, serving one of Virginia's largest regions. His leadership has resulted in tremendous growth, with expanded capacity, thousands served monthly, and millions of pounds of food distributed each year. Thank you, Michael, for your commitment to combating hunger in our community.

As the last stop on my Healthcare tour, I was honored to visit the Valley Health Wi******er Medical Center. It was a privilege to explore their new addition to behavioral health services and learn about the groundbreaking initiatives they are implementing. These efforts are essential for expanding access to care for our patients and strengthening our community's overall health and well-being.

Thank you to Shenandoah University Health Professions School for giving me a tour of their facilities and learning about their exceptional physical therapy, physician assistant, and pharmacy programs. As a top 10% institution nationally for health professions, it was great to see firsthand the dedicated commitment to education and training that prepares our future healthcare professionals to excel.

I was honored to visit the JMU School of Nursing and hear directly from doctoral students about their concerns in the nursing field. It was impressive to tour their simulation and clinical labs, witnessing firsthand the state-of-the-art equipment that is essential for enhancing skills in critical care and community health.

I want to congratulate Virginia Elks Youth Camp on their 75th anniversary and recognize its remarkable journey to becoming a beacon of hope and joy for over 50,000 boys and girls aged 8 to 13. I was honored to present them with a plaque of the Congressional Record honoring this milestone. I wish them all the best as they continue to ensure that the Virginia Elks Youth Camp remains a cornerstone of our community's investment in its youth for years to come.

I want to thank Crystal Farmer and Timothy Norton from Augusta Health for an insightful tour of their emergency room and outpatient center in Fishersville last week. It was impressive to see firsthand how their dedicated physicians and staff deliver outstanding care to our patients and community.

I was pleased to meet with Mr. Jeremy Luttrell, the Apple Blossom Festival President, to present him with a copy of the Congressional Record celebrating the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival’s 100th birthday. This is an incredible milestone and I extend my utmost gratitude to all those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make the Apple Blossom Festival one of the best celebrations in Virginia’s Sixth District and nationwide.

It was great to stop by the Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic Center for Simulation, Research, and Patient Safety in Roanoke. Their state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research are vital to enhancing healthcare in our communities.

I had the honor of presenting the Congressional Record plaque to the Bradley Free Clinic of Roanoke as it celebrates an incredible 50 years of service to our community's underserved members.

This week, I had the privilege of meeting with nursing and medical students at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute in Roanoke. We had an insightful discussion about their experiences in healthcare education and the challenges they face in the medical field.

I had a great time touring Friendship Richfield Living in Salem and seeing their assisted living facility, nursing home, and rehab physical therapy center. I’m grateful for their dedicated staff’s exceptional care and support to our community.

I had a great time visiting the Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House in Roanoke yesterday and hearing from the CEO Aaron Housh about how Good Samaritan is making a difference in Southwest Virginia. Thank you to Aaron and the entire Good Samaritan team for the tour and for all the incredible work you are doing in Virginia’s Sixth District.

It was a pleasure to join the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber and Congressman Morgan Griffith yesterday morning to discuss pressing issues impacting our region, including inflation and its effects on our everyday lives.
