Sharing some old work. In 2021 Wide Eye worked with the ACLU of Florida to brand and design a bold, visionary, and aspirational public campaign, "WE MAKE THE WAY" -- the ACLU of Florida's multi-year strategic effort to build a more just Florida for all. The "WE MAKE THE WAY" campaign, built in collaboration with the ACLU of Florida, takes inspiration from the civil rights movement and the state of Florida and centers the ACLU's core principles: justice, equality, and democracy.
Our work included campaign naming, messaging, tone of voice rules, and visual branding.

Sharing a bit of never-before-seen work from 2021. The following visual brand design was developed for an organization committed to achieving universal guaranteed income, but ultimately not made public.
The design approach, called “Future”, paints a picture of an America where every citizen is empowered to reach their full potential through minimum, basic income.

While we all had wished the election results would have swung a different way, we’re immensely proud to share our visual design and brand identity work from Stacey Abrams’s gubernatorial campaign launch earlier in 2022.
Our relationship with the Abrams campaign dates all the way back to her first run in 2018, and we relished this as an opportunity to reimagine Stacey Abrams’s public persona for 2022.
For the typography, we worked collaboratively with the legendary Tobias Frere-Jones and his amazing team at Frere-Jones Type to complete a custom version of a typeface ultimately named Community Gothic. Characterized by its rough, uneven edges and vintage properties, it was a perfect voice for the campaign – highlighting the continued fight for justice – tying the past to the future and the organic to the digital.
The musicality of Community Gothic is shown in more detail here - alternating between compressed, normal, and wide widths for constituency groups, quotes, and cities and communities in Georgia.
Project team: Grace Abe, Ben Ostrower, Elizabeth Bawol

Our relationship with the Abrams campaign dates all the way back to her first run in 2018, and we relished this as an opportunity to reimagine Stacey Abrams’s public persona for 2022. From the outset, we collaborated with Tré Seals at .co to design a fully typographic logo adapted from Vocal Type’s Marsha typeface.
The colors are built off of Stacey Abrams’s already familiar dark purple/purple palette from 2018 with a series of vibrant secondary tones evocative of Georgia (peach) and inspiring a sense of diversity and inclusion.
In all, we developed a distinctive visual identity and design system (inclusive of a series of secondary design elements and collages) that allowed the campaign to speak visually in a range of contexts throughout an incredibly competitive campaign.

The building blocks of our internal culture are what we (cheesily) refer to as the 6 Wide Eye I’s. These aren’t just our values, these are the standards we all hold ourselves accountable to for creating a safe, creative, and thriving work environment.
On this day of introspection (for many) we thought these key pillars would be fun and inspiring to share:
1. Innovation
Resourceful and scrappy: solve problems and challenges creatively. Push yourself and your work to the next level, even when it’s uncomfortable.
2. Initiative
Proactively take action to identify issues and offer solutions. If you see something broken: either fix it (if it’s easily fixable) or offer a solution. Able to take initiative to ask for help when you’re struggling.
3. Intention
In all that you do and create, be aware of the intent: What are we creating? Who is it for? If an approach isn’t intuitive to you, it won't be intuitive to others. In communicating solutions to teammates and clients, always explain the simple “why”.
4. Inclusion
Engender mutual trust and support across teams and team members. Be respectful of each other’s time and opinions. Work hard to include others' perspectives and fight against our own biases.
5. Introspection
Learn from mistakes and failures. In the event of a conflict or disagreement, thoughtfully examine and sort your feelings before taking action. Care for and be attentive to yourself, so you can care for others.
6. Inspiration
Draw energy and confidence from doing good work and seeing others do good work. Work every day to create the conditions for others to push themselves and their creativity.
