Farm workers are the definition of essential workers—they perform repetitive, intensive tasks (often while exposed to the elements) that place them at great risk of serious injury, all so that others may eat.
But the over 2 million people who make up this overwhelmingly immigrant labor force lack many basic guarantees of US labor law: organizing protection, time-and-a-half overtime pay, and many more. Many farm workers are paid so little that they have trouble putting food on their own tables.
