Join us for A Conversation with R.F Kuang!
Rebecca F. Kuang (SFS’18) is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Poppy War trilogy and Babel: An Arcane History. We are excited to host R.F. Kuang for a conversation about her books, the impact of her experiences at Georgetown, her experience as a Marshall Scholar, and her post-grad studies of Chinese history and East Asian languages. The event will be moderated by Atharv Gupta (SFS’23) who was recently awarded the Rhodes Scholarship.
Please join the Lecture Fund in welcoming retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer in a conversation with Jennifer Griffin on March 16th at 2:30pm in Gaston Hall.
The Honorable Stephen Breyer is a retired Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Born in San Francisco in 1938, he is a graduate of Stanford, Oxford, and Harvard Law School. He taught law for many years as a professor at Harvard Law School and at the Kennedy School of Government. He has also worked as a Supreme Court law clerk (for Justice Arthur Goldberg), a Justice Department lawyer (antitrust division), an Assistant Watergate Special Prosecutor, and Chief Counsel of the Senate Judiciary Committee. In 1980, he was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit by President Carter, becoming Chief Judge in 1990. In 1994, he was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Clinton. He has written books and articles about a range of legal topics, including administrative law, economic regulation, and the U.S. Constitution. His books include Active Liberty (2005), Making Our Democracy Work: A Judge's View (2010), The Court and the World (2015), and The Authority of the Court and the Peril of Politics (2021). His wife, Joanna, was born in Great Britain and is a retired clinical psychologist. They have three children—Chloe, Nell, and Michael—and six grandchildren.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Queuing does not guarantee a seat in the hall. The first-come, first-served line opens at 10 am on the 2nd floor of Healy Hall. Doors to Gaston Hall open at 1:30 pm for the 2:30 pm event.

Williams’ practice employs color as an operative means for drawing attention to the complex ways race informs how we assign value to the spaces we occupy. Her installations, sculptures, paintings, and other works seek to inspire new ways of looking at the familiar and in the process, raise questions about the state of urban space and ownership in America.
