Each year, the Graduate School of Political Management celebrates the exceptional accomplishments and contributions of alumni who embody GSPM’s values.

This year's honorees are:

◾ Emily Berret (GW GSPM Class of 2013, Senior Advisor to House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries - Emily has an impressive career, having led the transition team for House Democrats following the 2022 mid-term election and served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She also has extensive experience from her time in the Obama Administration. Emily holds a Master’s degree in Political Management from GSPM and has been recognized with multiple awards for her impact.

◾ Jules “Jay” Hurst (GW GSPM Class of 2022), Legislative Director and Defense Advisor to Speaker Mike Johnson. - Jay is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve with a distinguished military career, including four deployments to Afghanistan. He has served as a liaison between the U.S. Army and Congress and has a strong background in AI systems and defense strategy. Jay holds several degrees, including a master's in Legislative Affairs from GSPM.

Congratulations to them both for their outstanding career achievements and dedication to giving back to their communities, GSPM, and GW. We are incredibly proud of their successes and contributions!
