Whittier wears the rainbow! Thank you to everyone who helped us make today so colorful. Whittier celebrates Pride to not only celebrate the diversity of our incredible school community, but also to unapologetically affirm that everyone is welcome here and deserves to be loved and respected for their authentic selves. We are proud to be an inclusive second home for every member of the Whittier community.

This weekend was phenomenal! On Saturday, we hosted our first annual Parent Empowerment Conference. Here’s some of what we explored in the conference:
1. What to expect as your child ages: session facilitated by two physicians in American College of Gynecologists
2. The Dos and Don’ts of Co-Parenting: Facilated by Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist, Edward McCurty
3. Gender Identity 101: facilitated by
4. Framing Your Future-A shared family vision board: facilitated by
5. And hosted an entire session teaching families how to make easy meals using fresh ingredients
Special shout out to our generous PTO for the delicious breakfast spread.

Pride Month begins June 1st! As always, is celebrating all month. Celebrate with us as we start the month off with a Pride spirit week. See you next week!
Thank you to all of our special guests who came to read to our students today for AANHPI Heritage Month! Our scholars loved hearing stories representing Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander characters and cultures. Did you know that the AANHPI umbrella honors the cultures and contributions of people from/descended from over 75 different countries and territories? How many can you name? 🤔
Congratulations again to our incredible Whittier performers for an amazing job yesterday at the District of Columbia Performing Arts Festival! They had a fantastic time visiting and performing at , as well as having lunch up on the terrace!
Not captured in any picture from the day is the hard work of the incomparable Mrs. Heller as she held final rehearsals, ran lines with performers, made costume adjustments, and was a rockstar for all of the scholars! We’re so proud of her for this accomplishment too!
Our scholars had an incredible time at Kids Day! They visited Audi Stadium and watched the DC United team warm up. Such an inspiring experience! ⚽️
We are about two weeks away from our Parent Empowerment Conference. Our parent community is one of the things that makes such an amazing school. We want to honor our parents with a day of learning, food, and tips to help make the parenting journey easier. If you are interested in attending, please click the link in the bio to register. No matter the age, no matter the grade, students wore tie-dye to help bring awareness to mental health matters. At Whittier we not only celebrate, we like to educate about many topics. This week’s mental health awareness week hopefully will educate many in the importance of a healthy mind.
Next week we’re recognizing the importance of prioritizing our mental health with a spirit week! Check out our activities and themes for next week for Mental Health Awareness Month. See you in your tie dye on Monday!
Whittier families, are you ready for the AANHPI Festival and Movie Night?!
Next Friday, May 17th, we’ll be celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with activities, crafts, food, and a showing of “Raya and the Last Dragon!” We’re very excited and hope to see you there!
