Did you know that Ivy City measures 10-20 degrees hotter than other DC communities? It’s due to ‘heat island effect,’ caused by environmental injustice which has left the neighborhood with little tree cover and an overabundance of paved surfaces. Extreme heat is just one of the issues that will be addressed through the upcoming Ivy City Resilience Plan, led by DC Department of Energy and Environment. Join Empower DC and Ivy City residents to kick off the planning process with a community event featuring food, music and artwork by young neighborhood residents who are envisioning ‘A Cool Ivy City.’

Ethan & Margaret share why they became sustaining donors to Empower DC! Join them by going to http://www.empowerdc.org/midyearappeal2024 and help us reach our goal of recruiting 50 new sustainers by the end of this week!
----‐‐☆☆☆------
We joined Empower DC in 2016 and have loved supporting the organization and its important work ever since.
We support Empower because they really know the issues and are so smart about how to organize to make change happen. Last year we decided to move to monthly sustaining donations because it enables us to give a bit more over the course of a year than we could in just a lump sum. We also love knowing that we are part of what Empower does month in and month out.
Join us in supporting Empower DC by becoming a sustaining donor and helping Empower DC reach its goal of 100 sustainers during the mid-year appeal!
thank you!
