A message from Charlotte Min-Harris, President & CEO of the National Service Office for Nurse-Family Partnership and Child First:
As we close out Black Maternal Health Week, let's reflect on the history that shapes our present. The journey toward equity is both necessary and overdue. The disparities faced by Black women in maternal health are not just statistics; they are real stories of real people, echoing the need for change.
Did you know Black women are significantly more likely to encounter complications during pregnancy and childbirth, regardless of income or zip code? This is not just a matter of individual health but a reflection of wider societal issues that demand our attention and action.
Your dedication fuels our vital work, reaching families at the heart of this crisis. To advocates, donors, nurses, clinicians and all tirelessly working to end these disparities: your commitment is invaluable. Today, we honor all Black mothers, those raising children and those not here to witness their growth. This journey doesn't end here; it's ongoing. Together, let's keep pushing for maternal health equity every day. Thank you for being part of this important mission.
Dear Susan & Colleagues,
