On Sunday, October 6th, the Kappa Leaguers received and participated in a fantastic presentation and introduction to competitive debating.  Two members of the Howard University Speech and Debate team conducted an exciting and engaging debate for the Kappa Leaguers to demonstrate the importance of persuasive arguing and effective communication.

Team members,  Ms. Elandrea Baker and Mr. Darryl Cooper debated on the topic of whether homework has benefits and should be continued as a practice in schools.  The Kappa Leaguers enjoyed the debate and clearly had an opinion on the matter.  Those Kappa Leaguers who are interested in learning and engaging in debate will have the opportunity to do so by joining the Kappa League Debate Team.

On 5.19.24, the Washington (DC)  Alumni Chapter Kappa Leaguers were unsuccessful in defending the Negative Position KL Debate Competition: "The United States Federal Government should substantially increase fiscal
redistribution in the United States by adopting a federal jobs guarantee, expanding Social Security, and/or providing a basic income. "

We are extremely proud of our young men, which comprised of one (1) KL who had ever participated in the Debate Platform

The experience gained from this initiative was second (2nd) to none.
