HAPPY FOURTH of JULY!
This Independence Day and this election year, let us rededicate ourselves to freedom and democracy and pray that what prevails within us is what Lincoln called 'our better angels,' not our demonically divisive, deceptive, and destructive tendencies.

Father's Day is happier when spent with children. But many children are no longer here to celebrate this special day for dads because they were the victims of preventable gun violence. Serious background checks and sensible restrictions could have prevented most of these tragic deaths.

The prophetic word of God's radically inclusive and liberating love, though - in the person of Jesus - tortured and executed as extremely heretical and dangerously revolutionary, nevertheless - in the resurrected body of Jesus, in the Church as the Body of Christ, within the hearts of all of the faithful, and in the faces of all who are crying out for recognition, solidarity, and aid - this prophetic WORD still lives! CHRIST IS RISEN INDEED!
