Serve America Together

Serve America Together is a campaign to make national service part of growing up in America. A project of Service Year Alliance.

In January 2016, ServiceNation merged with the Franklin Project at the Aspen Institute & the Service Year Exchange to form Service Year Alliance. ServiceNation is building a movement to make a service year part of American life. We envision the day when “where will your service year be?” becomes a commonly asked question in our society. Today, ServiceNation reaches an estimated 100 million America

11/07/2022

Service Year Alliance launched the campaign during the 2020 presidential primary to urge the presidential candidates to help make part of growing up in America.

Against the backdrop of enormous challenges for our country — a global pandemic, overwhelming polarization and division, and an uncertain economic situation — the campaign won tremendous successes: a call to national service from the President, an endorsement from the The New York Times record-setting investments in national service, and more!

As part of our organization’s new strategic direction, and ahead of the midterm elections, we are winding down the Serve America Together campaign.

But our vision to make national service part of growing up in America is not lost. In fact, Service Year Alliance as an organization has adopted the campaign’s vision as our organization’s overall vision — it’s what our team wakes up every morning working to make a reality.

We will continue to build upon the campaign’s principles in our new strategy and in everything we do going forward, and our campaign’s supporters, co-chairs, and coalition members are eager to continue this important work in partnership with us.

Service Year Alliance has a renewed commitment to engaging with bipartisan leaders from across industries to advance this new strategy and ensure national service is poised for long-term expansion so that every young person in America — no matter their background — has the opportunity to serve.

We are grateful for your support, and look forward to working with you to make national service part of growing up in America.

"As part of our campaign, Service Year Alliance called on President Joe Biden to be the Service President by prioritizing and expanding national service and making it more accessible for Americans of all backgrounds. "President Joe Biden's call for a new era of national service yesterday at the United We Stand Summit was a massive victory for our vision of making part of growing up in America. Service Year Alliance applauds President Biden for this bold call to action — and specifically for calling for a $15/hour living allowance for all AmeriCorps members.

As part of our Serve America Together campaign, Service Year Alliance called on President Biden to be the Service President by prioritizing and expanding national service and making it more accessible for Americans of all backgrounds. The President’s announcement to increase bridge building and social cohesion in America through national service with the launch of AmeriCorps’ campaign is a giant step in the right direction...

To truly launch national service into a new era, it’s time to make these ideas a reality through tangible investments in AmeriCorps and national service...

We are eager to work with the Administration, AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other federal agencies to bring this shared vision for national service to life. Serving alongside people of different backgrounds and lived experiences brings Americans together in common purpose, repairing social cohesion in our country.”

“We believe national service is a cause that Americans of all backgrounds and political ideologies can rally behind. Two-thirds of Americans believe that President Biden and Congress must prioritize programs that will unite the nation. And 77 percent, including majorities of Republicans and Democrats, support the expansion of national service opportunities. Many of these folks agree on close to nothing — except national service. It’s time we raise up their voices together.”
