The Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain in Washington, DC opens its (out)doors to let you enjoy the art installations in the exterior of the beaux arts mansion.
Since the pandemic began, the Cultural Office of the Spanish Embassy in Washington, D.C. has not stopped working to deliver the best of Spanish culture directly to your home with an online program covering all disciplines and all tastes. During this period, the building and the gardens have been dressed up with open-air exhibitions, interventions on the façade and works visible from the outside.

In addition and on the occasion of the 5th Centennial of the first circumnavigation, visual artist Juanli Carrión has designed a garden with species that are reminiscent of each of the stops on the trip.

The Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain is now preparing for the return of live events and opens its (out)doors to celebrate it! We invite you to visit our latest open-air arts installations including the Around Nature botanical garden with free guided or non-guided visits every weekend in June, starting on Friday, June 11.

Tango With Pride!

Exuberant standing ovations and shouts of “bravo” erupted as the lights came down last week on the artists of Ella es tango, a musical r***e performed live at GALA through June 20. A stellar cast of artists from Argentina and the United States, directed by Hugo Medrano, create "an unforgettable mosaic of music and dance" (DC Metro Theater Arts).

Experience the authenticity of this musical genre in this dazzling display of music, dance, and song that explores the contribution of female composers and singers to tango. And for those who want to take their turn, bring your dancing shoes to the Wednesday performance for an hour of tango dancing after the show! The June 9 performance is sold out, but tickets are still available for the remaining performances.

Ella es tango runs Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm. The production is presented in Spanish with English surtitles. Safety measures in place! Read our reopening plan.
