One can't fully grasp what Sophie's Kissing Window is about until you watch (and listen to) her kisses in slow motion! Every night around 11 p.m. she insists on sharing dozens of kisses with Rescue Me founder Jeff Gold before she will go to sleep. Sophie is a 7-year old boxer with a rare health condition called hydrocephalus. She has been in great health at Rescue Me's Animal Rehabilitation Center thanks to a special diet and lots of daily love and playtime with her best friend, Sumoto Dragon.
In addition to off-leash pack walks along miles of trails at Rescue Me's Animal Rehabilitation Center on 135-acres, we always take some time for fun. This morning Izzie, on the right, was teaching Cortez some East Coast Swing dance steps... he caught on fast! (For those curious, they are wearing GPS collars so if anyone runs off during a walk, we can find them easily, luckily that rarely happens.)

RescueMe.Org is sending 3,000 lbs. of dog and cat food to Panama City Beach, Florida today we picked up from Southeast Pet's warehouse in Atlanta. Christopher and Rosanna Wright will be distributing it to people with pets in need. They are working from a church just miles from areas worst hit by Hurricane Michael. Not only do rescues need to relocate and find homes for pets in Florida, thousands of people want to keep their pets but with badly damaged and destroyed homes, few stores open, curfews and looting, pet food and supplies are hard to come by. Rescue Me has arranged at least 10 more pallets of food and supplies which are on trucks now headed to Chris and Rosanna so they can provide them to those most in need in the coming days, weeks and months.

Paula is a Grammy Award Winning Singer-Songwriter known for hits such as "I Don't Want to Wait” (the theme from Dawson’s Creek) and “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” In a few months Rescue Me will debut a mobile-friendly version of our website, at which time we will begin a national advertising campaign featuring celebrities including Paula, talking about the importance of rescue. Look who joined Rescue Me's Animal Rehabilitation Center today... Meet Emy! She was found stray and we rescued her this morning on what could have been her last day at animal control. She is a fawn boxer, but could pass for a white boxer... she is nearly completely white from head to tail. - Jeff Gold

Emergency evacuation at Rescue Me's Animal Rehabilitation Center in progress. Highest possible threat of severe weather with possible mile wide or larger F2-F5 tornadoes with winds 111-200+ mph, and hail 2" or more in diameter. We have an underground home next to the rescue areas, all dogs are being moved into underground areas now. First time we've ever had to do this. Luckily Cortney thought to buy out PetSmart's inventory of kennels last night with the help of Beverly transporting them, and Jessica got back there early this morning to get a few more. Johnny built the kennels quickly this morning finishing just before the first major round started hitting. Rescue Me founder, Jeff Gold, and the rest of our staff are all evacuated underground now with the animals. Thirty minutes ago there were three tornadoes heading this way, hopefully all will dissipate before hitting center. Threat will get even worse as day progresses, so we will be hunkered down as needed.
Taylor is a 14-year-old boxer at our animal rehabilitation center. She has to get around in a stroller now so I've taken her up to The Atlanta Beltline which is a great pathway for people and dogs around the city.

Sophie Princess is a five year old boxer at our rehabilitation center with hydrocephalus. Because of her condition she will always act like a six week old puppy. Her best friend is Sumoto Dragon. He knows how to play with her very rough like puppies do but gentle at the same time.

Taylor Bean got to enjoy Thanksgiving Day at Southern Cross Guest Ranch, riding in her carriage getting kissed by horses. Hundreds of horses live on 200+ acres at this amazing retreat just minutes from Rescue Me's Animal Rehabilitation Center. Taylor is a 14-year old boxer who lives at our center. She is completely paralyzed; nonetheless, she goes on carriage rides every day and as you can see in this photo her spirit is as bright and happy as that of a young puppy! In addition to the 500,000+ animals placed through our website, we also operate our rehabilitation center for special needs animals like Taylor who often get to go on fun field trips like this one today!
