Many dentists only seeing emergency cases, but what does that mean exactly? Although many offices are closed, dentists are still seeing patients, even while they are being forced to lay off staff.

In response to a large number of our clients cutting back to emergency cases only, we will be cutting back our in office hours for the foreseeable future. We have been distributing our cell numbers to contact us directly. If you require our services with an emergency case, please contact us directly, and we will be happy to assist. A few notes regarding how we're dealing with the current COVID-19 pandemic at Down East Dental Lab.

1. We are currently open for business, and operating on a fairly normal schedule. We are open at 8:00 AM as usual. Our closing time may vary, based on which client offices are open and our in house workload. For instance, yesterday (Monday, March 23) we closed at 4 PM. We will probably keep that schedule as long as it makes sense, and adjust accordingly as we go along.

2. We ask that all repairs & try ins be EXTREMELY well cleaned and disinfected before they are sent to our lab. We are treating all cases as if they have not been disinfected, as usual. However, especially with repairs, you can help us tremendously by disinfecting them, and sealing them before sending them to us.

3. We will not be entering offices unless there is a pick up or a need to visit your office for the foreseeable future. This will limit our exposure to your patients and staff. If you have a back door or employee entrance that we can use, as opposed to entering through your waiting room, please let us know if we can use that as well. Anything to help us increase our social distance is greatly appreciated! With that in mind, please call us when you have a case for us to pick up. We will continue to check in with you all periodically to see how you're doing, and to check schedules.

4. If we reach a point where it doesn't make sense for us to be here on a set schedule, we may close temporarily. We are not planning on doing this until we absolutely have to do so. If this occurs, we will notify all of our clients ASAP. In the event of an emergency case, or if you have a patient scheduled and need our services for a repair or anything else, you can contact us and we will be here for you. Effective 2:00PM today, we are closed through the duration of Hurricane Florence. We hope to return to work on Monday, September 17th at 8:00AM. Be safe!

Obituary for Patricia Cartwright Sparrow

Patricia Cartwright Sparrow, 45, of Belhaven, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017.

A Celebration of Ms. Sparrow’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Old Ford Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour. Patricia Cartwright Sparrow was humble, kind, and more than just an employee, coworker, or friend. To us, she was family. She was always positive & had a smile on her face everyday. She loved what she did, and it showed. I wish she could see how many people have called, texted, or emailed us today sending their condolences. She was a special person, and words cannot express how much we're doing to miss her.

We are currently closed until power is restored to the City of Washington, & until we can safely travel to Washington due to flooding.
