Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin
Connecting people, passion, and resources, for local community impact.
Did you know applying for grants takes some time and insight? It's one of the tasks nonprofit leaders do to keep their organization moving forward, especially when they have a good idea they need additional support to bring to life. But writing out the application can be challenging! That's why we hosted Nonprofit Networking: Meet the Funders. And we couldn't be happier with how the event went.
Over 100 leaders from local organizations gathered to learn about the grant application processes of various funding sources. This is the best turnout we've ever had! 🎉
Thank you to this crew of presenters for preparing and providing guidance. Thank you to Northcentral Technical College for hosting all of us. Thank you to the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation for co-sponsoring the event to keep it free for all participants.
And if you were able to join us, thank you for coming! We are so blessed to live in a community FULL of people who deeply care for others!
Ryan and Paul are not only crushing the Wausau Business Show, but they're also giving the proceeds from the show to our Wausau Marathon County Fund! This is entrepreneurial philanthropy, and we are HERE FOR IT!! 🤩
The Wausau Marathon County Fund fuels our Impact Grants, which support local nonprofits. Hundreds of donors give to make these grants possible. We celebrate how their generosity makes our community brighter for everyone!
What can you do TODAY to make someone else's life brighter?💡

This video is the first in a series highlighting recipients of our Impact Grants. Generosity is making amazing things happen right here in our community. These stories are tangible proof.

Great teamwork!! 🥳

Another great year of Youth Philanthropy wrapped up last night at our capstone event. These students make us more excited about the future for our community! During the year, the junior class reviewed grant applications and awarded grants to four local organizations and the senior class fundraised for future grantmaking. Their teamwork and commitment are inspiring. And thank you to the program mentors. You have faithfully invested and encouraged these students! Lastly, the graciously hosted the event - thank you so much for having us!

Darwin's mystery of mysteries: Join the young Charles Darwin on an adventurous voyage of exploration circumnavigating the World with the HMS Beagle. In the 19th century in Victorian times, many physical phenomena were already discovered and described by natural laws, but life’s most eloquent mechanism was still unknown: How could new species arise to replace those lost in extinction? It was time for someone to come forth with a Naturalist explanation of this mystery of mysteries.

The dog who will replace Badge has big shoes (or paws) to fill, but we're so thankful we were able to award a grant to the Wausau Police Department to bring another therapy dog to the squad after much success with Badge.
"Badge has not only been a friend and confidant to the students at Wausau East High School but has also left a legacy, with merchandise like shirts and stickers, and an upcoming scholarship in his name. His retirement marks the end of an era but also the beginning of a new chapter with the introduction of a new therapy dog that will undoubtedly continue to make a positive impact on the students’ lives."
Generosity makes a difference in big and small ways! Thank you, donors, for making our community brighter through philanthropic giving!

What do you think of when you hear, "Investing in the lives of others"? Well, we hope "have fun together" is something that comes to mind!
Since 1976, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin has served thousands of youth in mentor-match relationships in various locations throughout our community. In the past year, CBS moved into the former YWCA, building their new “nest.” We're so thankful for the generosity of our donors who made it possible for us to financially support BBBS's move with a grant to help furnish their new mentoring center. From these pictures, it looks like both the “Bigs” and “Littles” are enjoying their new nest!

Today marks our 37th birthday as an organization! We are so thankful we get to partner with donors and nonprofits to make this amazing community a brighter place.
There's no better way to celebrate than looking back on the impact of 2023! Because of your generosity, we gave away $660,100 in grants in 2023 from Wausau Marathon County Impact Funds. And we are excited about the grants we made in the last grant cycle. From supporting the development of the Forensic Science Center, which will relieve our justice system and give educational opportunities to local students, to giving a grant to the Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation to help bring a clinic to our community, which will provide more mental health resources to our community, the generosity of our donors is being deployed for so much good.
