This morning our Pastor Mike Simmons announced his retirement from the role of senior pastor of Hillcrest Baptist church effective December 31, 2025
Pastor Mike has served us for 33 wonderful years and we are beyond grateful for his and Mrs. Beverly’s leadership during this time.
Pastor Mike has shown us what it looks like be a shepherd leader. Under the Lord’s leadership, Pastor Mike has led the church to a new (completely debt-free) location and we have seen hundreds of new members and people being baptized. He has led the church to an increased impact in Cedar Hill, the surrounding areas, and the ends of the earth. During his 33 years of leadership, Hillcrest has sent out approximately 100 missionaries and commisioned close to a dozen church plants. The wide-reaching impact of Pastor Mike’s obedience to Christ is one we will not fully see until we reach eternity.
Pastor Mike has asked the church to consider a succession process recommending Senior Associate Pastor Jordan McKinney to be the next pastor of Hillcrest. More will be discussed about this in the coming weeks, while ultimately the church under the Lordship of Christ will decide on the next pastor of Hillcrest.
Members who have questions about this should call the church office and an appropriate person will call you back to answer questions as best as we can.
