Tryston spent 18 days at Cook Children’s. He lost almost 30 pounds. He is re-learning how to walk normally again and he has no muscle mass in his legs anymore from being bedridden for almost three weeks. The physicians and clinical experts on his care team believe va**ng caused his lungs to fail. As he continues recovering, he still coughs at times and feels very tired.

Tryston made a mistake, one that too many kids are making, because they assume e-ci******es are “healthier” than regular ci******es. The medical director of Emergency Services at Cook Children’s says his team sees a child every week for va**ng.

This law goes into effect September 1st.

State Bill 21- essentially prohibits anyone under the age of 21 from buying ci******es, e-ci******es or other to***co products.

The age restriction would not apply to anyone who turned 18 on or before Aug. 31.

Violators would face a Class C misdemeanor and face a fine of up to $500.

Here it is:

SECTION 4. Sections 161.082(a) and (e), Health and Safety Code, are amended to read as follows:

a) A person commits an offense if the person, with criminal negligence:

1) sells, gives, or causes to be sold or given a
cigarette, e-cigarette, or to***co product to someone who is younger than 21 years of age; or

2) sells, gives, or causes to be sold or given a
cigarette, e-cigarette, or to***co product to another person who intends to deliver it to someone who is younger than 21 years of age.
