The Waxahachie Ex-Students Association would like to recognize and give a special THANK YOU to Waxahachie alumni Mark and Stephanie Ashmore of the Dove's Nest for hosting our scholarship awards ceremony.

This year our Alumni Association was able to award $11,500 to 5 of our 2024 Graduates!

Last Wednesday, we had a spirited and cozy reception held at The Doves Nest in Downtown Waxahachie with our scholarship recipients and their families. Our scholarship recipients receive their first year as a member of the Association free. We wish them the best of luck and hope they return home to one day volunteer and give back to their community!

It’s graduation day! Congrats to the Class of 2024! Share with us your most fondest memories of your time in Highschool.

We are excited to announce this year’s scholarship recipients from the Senior Class of 2024. We can’t wait to honor them at this year’s scholarship dinner to be hosted at the Dove’s Nest in downtown Waxahachie.

There we will announce which scholarships each recipient has been awarded. Scholarship recipients be sure to RSVP by May 15.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered and been a member of the Association that allows us to give back to Waxahachie ISD students each year.

Congratulations Mr. Perry !

Jacob Perry Announced as Interim Principal of WHS

WISD Superintendent Dr. Jerry Hollingsworth named Jacob Perry Interim Principal of Waxahachie High School. He will fill the position Tonya Harris vacated when she was named the lone finalist for Superintendent of Itasca ISD.

Perry holds a bachelor's degree from East Texas Baptist University, a master's degree from Texas A&M-Commerce, and his Superintendent's Certificate from the University of North Texas.

Before accepting this assignment, Mr. Perry served as the Director of Student and Campus Services for WISD. He has been in education for 23 years, 15 of those at WISD. His career has given him experience as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Facilities and Operations, and Assistant Superintendent.

"Mr. Perry has vast experiences at both the administrative and campus level. We appreciate Mr. Perry lending his talents to guiding WHS during this time of transition," said Dr. Hollingsworth, Superintendent of Waxahachie ISD. "We will miss Mr. Perry at Central Administration, but I am confident that the students and staff of WHS are in capable hands.”

Mr. Perry has been married to his wife, Amy, for 22 years, and they have three sons: Caleb (WHS' 22), Chance (WHS' 24), and C**t (eighth grade). "I'm looking forward to working with students and their families and the staff at WHS," said Perry. We have a lot to accomplish before the end of the school year, and I am excited to see what the future holds!"

Waxahachie ISD will begin the hiring process for a new WHS principal in the coming weeks.

DID YOU KNOW? • Sarah Hill Melton, our Homecoming Queen from the Class of 1973 returned home this homecoming to assist in the crowning of the new Homecoming Queen for 2023. Thank you Sarah!
