Lately we’ve been missing our age outs…

Next up on our list we have 2023-24 West Bend Power playoff MVP, goaltender Ian Kangas from Virginia, Minnesota.

Kangas brought his stellar goaltending play to the Power after being picked up as a free agent late into the season last year. He racked up 12 games played, a 2.08 goals against average and a winning record of 8-3. Most notably, Kangas posted a 1.91 goals against average and 2 shutouts in the postseason, bolstering the Power to its first Fraser Cup appearance.

Kangas found himself through the West Bend experience, being forever grateful for the opportunity he was given to play and thrive in front of the West Bend fans.

“When I was called by the Power coaching staff, I suddenly found excitement and ambition for the game after the opportunity they had given me,” Kangas said. “West Bend had to be one of my most favorite hockey experiences throughout my career, the community was very involved in the Power’s success.”

“Ian Knagas was a steady presence who had been through the NA3 playoffs previously and his experience was key to our success,” Coach Jason Woods said. “We were very fortunate to have Ian come play for us, both on and off the ice, his back to back shutouts in the playoffs vs. Wausau won’t soon be forgotten.”

Kangas will continue his job at being a brick wall while attending Western Michigan University and playing for their ACHA D1 program.

“I felt a load of energy playing in front of the West Bend fans and I am forever grateful for the spark and opportunity West Bend has given me,” Kangas said.

Lately we’ve been missing our age outs…

Next up on our list, we have 2023-24 leading point scorer, forward Bryce Garber from Osceola, Indiana.

Garber brought his offensive capabilities to the Power for the past two seasons, racking up a total of 100 games played, a phenomenal 50 goals, and 35 assists for a whopping 85 points.

The 2023-24 West Bend Power, offensive player of the year, cherished his time in the city of West Bend.

“West Bend became family to me, on and off the ice,” Garber said. “The players and coaches, but especially the fans have only bettered me in hockey and in life.”

“Bryce Garber grew into the role of being an offensive force for the Power, leading the team in goals and points,” Coach Jason Woods said. “He is truly blessed with speed and a high level shot that he will for sure continue to be an offensive force in college and help lead his group to even more success.”

Garber will be bringing his lightning speed and shot to Northwood University where he has committed to play for their ACHA D1 team as well as continuing his business degree.

“I can’t wait to see what Bryce does during college and I hope he continues to get back to West Bend to give the newcomers some of his scoring touch,” Coach Jason Woods said.

Lately we’ve been missing our age outs…

Next up on our list, we have late season acquisition, goalie Jesse Easterwood from Chicago, Illinois.

Easterwood spent the backend of the Power season, racking up 7 games played, a 3.24 goals against average and a winning record of 3-2.

Jesse loved the culture that West Bend accepted him into. Not only the boys and coaches on the ice, but YOU, the Power fans and your boundless support for the West Bend Power.

“Playing for the Power meant that I was playing for a family, a group of brothers that always had my back,” Easterwood said. “But it wasn’t just the kids wearing the jersey, it was everyone in the stands that made me at home.”

“Jesse Easterwood came to us late in the season, bringing an unbelievable positive attitude and hard working ability,” Coach Jason Woods said. “Upon his arrival, Jesse won us some huge games that helped us push for our first Fraser Cup appearance.”

Easterwood has committed to the University of Wyoming where he will continue his hockey career playing for the D2 ACHA team. He will also be putting his head in the books, studying botany and geoscience!

“I’ll be carrying the Power family and attributes I obtained with me to Wyoming,” Easterwood said.

Lately we’ve been missing our age outs…

Next up on our list, we have Captain forward, Max Mudge from Seattle, Washington.

Mudge spent the past two years with the Power, racking up a total of 98 games played, 18 goals, and 50 assists for a total of 68 points while being a utility man, playing as both a forward and defenseman.

Max was a powerful and present face throughout West Bend and the Kettle Moraine Ice Center during his two years with the Power. Mudge thanks West Bend for welcoming his west coast self to the midwest.

“West Bend is and always will be a second home to me, the people I met around the rink made showing up each day easy,” Mudge said. “The fans are by far the best part of West Bend, the families I got to meet and become close with is something I will always remember.”

“Max Mudge was a player who possessed and brought an unbelievable mix of grit, toughness and leadership to our Power team,” Coach Jason Woods said. “Max was a rare player who was equally adept at helping the team at both a defenseman and a forward and his leadership will be very tough to replace.”

Mudge has committed to Kent State University where he will be continuing his hockey career, playing for their D1 ACHA team.

“I hope I can make it back for some Power home games and keep cheering on the boys next season,” Mudge said.
