The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council is THRILLED to announce, in cooperation with Monroe City, that we are OFFICIALLY raising funds to rehabilitate and restore Edmund Williamson's iconic and much loved DRAGONFLY sculpture!

Figurative Painting: Transcending Classical Form with Post-Modern Color and Space

⏰July 20 & 21, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM

👩‍🎨 Level: Intermediate (Ideal for those with at least one formal painting class or a year of self-taught experience)

This workshop aims to guide students towards creating a painting that combines classical figures from the Western canon into a 21st century space that emphasizes abstracted form over illusionary space. Themes such as religion, identity, regionalism, appropriation, and narrative will be discussed.
