Received some great news today!

Last year (2023), EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls launched our Advocacy Project "Feel the Vibe" after watching Xavier Ferguson (seen in photo), who was 6 at the time, adapting to the sounds of barber equipment while getting his hair cut.

We met with the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department asking them to enhance our county parks to include accessibility and develop SENSORY stations at county parks for children with autism spectrum and other disabilities.

On June 11, 2024, Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department announced they are installing communication boards with pictures and symbols at playgrounds in fourteen county-operated park locations to help non-verbal, speech-challenged and early-learning individuals communicate with friends and caregivers.

A few of the parks are near our black and brown communities. Supported by donations, the communication boards are scheduled to be installed at Limestone Creek Playground, Cabana Colony Park, Westgate Park, Haverhill Park, Lake Lytal Park, Seminole Palms Park, Glades Pioneer Park, John Prince Park (Boundless Playground), San Castle Community Park, West Boynton Park, Caloosa Park, Lake Ida West Park (All Abilities Playground), Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park (All Abilities Playground), and Loggers Run Park.

Thank you Shandra Stringer for an awesome meeting with the EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls...

Entrepreneurship is the activity of setting up a business and taking the financial risks in the hope of profit.

Five take a ways:
1) Overcome your fears in starting a business with faith
2) You interaction with people is an experience and not a transaction
3) Do the math before you start (Profit, Pricing, Researching)
4) When you fail, it doesn't mean you are a failure
5) Ask for the right help - assistance is always a favorable decision
6) Be careful when you are in a desperate situation

Ms. Stringer, we are ready to start our own business!

EmpowHER of the Palm Beaches’ CALL TO ACTION supports women and girls in self-actualizing their inner power – to truly advance women’s empowerment. It is designed to address the needs of the next generation of empowered women leaders and change makers that will transform our world. It encourages today’s empowered young women who are doing more than making his-story to create her-story. They rewrite their destinies.

As the Founder of EmpowHER of the Palm Beaches and seven-year constant, I felt I was equipped to handle and adjust my momentum to any of our challenges. However, the news of a fatal hit-and-run in Miami Gardens on February 12, 2023 left me speechless. One of “my girls?” That was the farthest thought, much less undesired reality, I could have ever imagined. Nevertheless, through tear-stained eyes, empowered with inner strength and God given fortitude, I released this new chapter in a book that I thought was already well written.

Sha’Raiyah Story, an 18-year-old 2021-2022 member of EmpowHER of the Palm Beaches Leadership Academy for Girls known as Shay is gone. The independent one...quiet but powerful...curious enough to try anything...humble enough to allow God to be a part of her life is gone. The young woman that attended Royal Palm Beach High School and was enjoying her Freshman year at Florida Memorial University is gone. Her life has ended, but her-story will live on forever.

Please remember Shay as you view this video of her ministering to “Something Has to Break” by gospel recording artist Kierra Sheard-Kelly during a mental health presentation that the academy created about the “pros and cons of issues that developed among high school girls during the height of the global pandemic, COVID-19”.

Thank you, Shatavia Nubin, for allowing Shay to be a part of us...

Those who really know me, know I am very passionate about the leadership development of our youth.

I had the opportunity to judge Palm Beach County's FBLA District Competition today.

This year was extra special because EmpowHER Laura Babooram judged as well.

The most rewarding was seeing one of my EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls in red, waiting nervously for her competition.. . So proud of her... didnt judge her competition but I am sure she rocked it!
