Each spring, the Historical Society of Palm Beach County invites all members to attend the annual membership meeting, where our leaders announce changes in the board of governors and share the accomplishments of the HSPBC during the prior year.
A highlight of this meeting is the presentation of the HSPBC community awards. Nominations are solicited from former honorees and historical organizations in Palm Beach County.
This year, those honored were Augustus Mayhew and Boca Raton Historical Society & The Schmidt Boca Raton Museum ().

Designed by Italian-born Rosario Candela, the Brazilian Court Hotel and Apartments opened on New Year’s Day in 1926.
The Spanish Colonial-style masterpiece featured terra cotta barrel tiles, arched hallways, and stucco walls. Designed by Italian-born Rosario Candela, the Brazilian Court Hotel and Apartments opened on New Year’s Day in 1926.
The Brazilian Court hosted socialites and politicians, as well as local guests. A winter retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, staff readied the Brazilian Court for seasonal residents each year.
The arrival of these guests marked the start of a vibrant social scene, often filled with exclusive galas and soirées.

Designed by Addison Mizner, the Everglades Club was initially imagined as a military hospital. The choice to pivot to a private club was made when WWI ended, prior to the completion of construction.
