On Saturday night, I finished this painting live at the event in Fort Lauderdale to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Scotch & Sharks. This one-of-a-kind evening in an airplane hanger called for a one-of-a-kind painting, and it just made sense to paint Tom Cruise’s legendary character “Maverick” from Top Gun.

Custom-built out of 1/16” aluminum, this piece is a combination of two panels in the shape of fighter jet wings, with rivets around the perimeter. It was sold during the live auction, and I couldn’t be more excited for my newest collector, .heli owner Pavel Shlyahovsky.

A big shout out to , , and for planning and executing such a successful fundraiser.

Title: “Maverick”
Size: 40x76 in. (101x193 cm)
Medium: Original acrylic on aluminum.
Sold.

P.S. the Top Gun sequel comes out May 27 👏😎

Ten years ago today, I left a job in advertising and event marketing to become a self-employed fine artist. My passion to create was too strong to set aside until nights and weekends, and I owed it to myself to see where my full attention could take my art. Luckily, I was born into a family that understood what it meant to be an artist, and I can’t thank my parents enough for supporting me 100% in my decision.

I also owe a debt of gratitude to the rest of my family and friends for the words of encouragement, helping me with shows, sharing posts, and all of the other little things that make me feel loved 🙏

And to everyone that has collected my art, THANK YOU for believing in my work and inviting it into your homes. It is such an honor to create something from my mind and heart that you will pass down through the generations.

I didn’t realize how much I have learned along the way until recently meeting artists that are where I was ten years ago. I am thrilled to meet anyone, regardless of age, that decides to take the leap and pursue a career as an artist. It is extremely hard and at times will make you question your commitment to your craft, but keep your head up. If something isn’t working, adapt. Meet other artists and art enthusiasts, and build your support network. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! The business side of being an artist isn’t taught in school, so that is something you learn by doing and asking others. Don’t hesitate to send me a DM if you need any advice.

We all dream of success and “making it” as an artist. But, keep in mind that “making it,” in any profession, can be a moving target. You should have goals, but achieving them is not the reward. The reward is the journey, and being able to share it with people that love you and support whatever you decide to do in life. Now go create something the world has never seen, and inspire others to do the same!

Thanksgiving, Palm Beach style. I couldn’t be more grateful for this family of loving, ambitious, creative, and impeccably dressed Italians 🇮🇹 My move to Florida six months ago would never have been possible without them, and I am honored to be considered part of their family, especially today when I am not able to spend the holiday in St. Louis. 🙏 .brancatelli

Whenever asked how I became an artist, I always say it runs in the family. I just hung this painting of Venice, Italy in on Worth Avenue, and I surprised my great aunt on her 95th birthday to thank her for being such an inspiration.

Lorraine Gergeceff Cooper is a retired professional artist and teacher, and I grew up enthralled by her large abstract landscapes from around the world. She has provided immense wisdom and endless support on my journey to become a professional artist. It is truly an honor to continue that tradition in the family and I can’t wait to pay it forward to the next generation. Thank you and I love you, Aunt Lorraine ❤️
