Today marks fourteen years since my mom passed away. I know this isn’t my usual content and I’m bringing this up not to bum you out, but because I know how challenging grief can be and I’d hope to help anyone currently struggling.

If you’re in the midst of it, it might feel overwhelming and dark. But I promise, with time, things get lighter. Grief comes in waves, but as the years pass, those waves become more distant. Grief is complex, and it’s not often talked about. My mom was really sick, both physically and mentally, and it’s okay to sometimes miss her and other times feel relieved that she’s at peace and so are we. I do miss the idea of having a healthy and happy mom, but I understand that wasn’t possible in this lifetime.

I want anyone suffering a loss to know that it’s valid to feel a range of emotions—anger, sadness, relief, etc. There’s no right way to grieve. When I was seventeen, it felt so heavy— like too much to bear. But now, I cherish the life I have. I’m genuinely happy, and I wish I could tell my teenage self about the joy that was to come.

If you’re hurting, I promise there is joy ahead. If you need someone to talk to who might get what you’re going through- please reach out! I’m no therapist lol but I can relate and listen! ❤️❤️
