We have loved this home for 13 years but ready for something new in the country! We have the best neighbors ever, a block from all the amazing things Uptown has to offer, old historic charm but huge rooms with walk in closets and a master en suite(an addition doubled the homes square footage), huge deck we added, detached 2 car garage with extra room in back for workshop, partially finished basement for a rec room. It’s a good mix of old character but modern conveniences you never find in a 100+ year old house which is why we fell in love with it!

We are one week away from opening night of Sunbury Performing Arts production of W***y Wonka Jr.

Abby Bauder will be playing Mrs. Bucket (Charlie’s mom) and Isabella Bauder will be Violet Beauregarde in the Friday 7pm and Saturday 2pm shows! Several UEC patients are in it as well!

Did you see the northern lights tonight? Get outside. You won’t be able to see much with your eyes, but look through your camera!

The rods and cones in our eyes cannot detect the full spectrum of light in the dark. But a camera does! At lower latitudes, Northern Lights often show up on a DSLR camera, before they appear to the naked eye. As the Aurora gains strength, it may then become visible without the use of a camera

It’s time for some spring cleaning! We have Ocean Pacific sunglasses frames, kids sunglasses, readers, and kids blue light glasses all on sale for $5-$10 to make some space in our office!

So what can actually happen if you aren’t safe during the solar eclipse?

Solar retinopathy refers to a photochemical toxicity and resultant injury to retinal tissues, usually occurring at the fovea. This entity is commonly associated with sungazing or eclipse viewing, and often results in mild-to-moderate visual acuity deficit and/or central or paracentral scotomata. Recovery is spontaneous in nature and occurs over the course of 3-6 months after the inciting event, though visual recovery MAY BE INCOMPLETE and patient may suffer from PERMANENT visual acuity deficits and central or paracentral scotomata.

Decreased visual acuity is usually to a level of 20/25 - 20/100, but possibly worse depending on the extent of exposure.

Please make sure your eclipse glasses are ISO and CE certified, and keep them on the ENTIRE time you are viewing the sun.

Still Need eclipse glasses? Come see us today (Thursday 4/4) until 4 or Saturday 8-11. We have limited supply left for $2.50 each plus tax.

Make sure you have protective eyewear.

You can NOT use regular sunglasses, can NOT look through your phone or your camera. The sun will damage those lenses and your eyes will not be protected.

If you need protective eyewear we still have stock of our eclipse glasses for sale and will be open Thursday 9-4 (closed 12-1), and also open Saturday 8-11:30.

I just saw a patient today with solar macopathy and reduced vision from a prior incident. It happens and you can lose your vision. Don’t mess around with your sight!!

You can experience this once in a lifetime event safely!

How to safely look at the total solar eclipse The safest way to view Monday’s total solar eclipse is with solar eclipse glasses that are ISO-rated 12312-2.

Due to the predicted severe storms and tornado risk, we will be CLOSING EARLY at 2pm today for the safety of our patients and staff. We don’t want anyone driving in the storms and we don’t want to have to huddle in the unfinished basement of this old house with our patients this afternoon 😂

If you have an appointment this afternoon, Abbey has sent you a message. If you need to pick up glasses, contacts, eclipse glasses, etc, please do so earlier today or we will see you tomorrow!

Make A Difference Monday:

Another organization the Bauder’s love to support in different capacities is the Dream Center. They do year round community projects: delivering groceries, block parties, feeding the homeless, and seasonal events.

Dr B and her girls got to help prep Easter baskets (laundry basket full of household necessities like soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper and trash bags) last week and will help deliver this coming weekend.

If you are looking for a way to make a difference filling vital needs, check out the Dream Center. They have locations in Hilliard, Delaware and the Short North. There are plenty of ways you can help either as a one time or even weekly!

Everyone give a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout out to the Abbey- one of the greatest, most caring and selfless people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She runs the office completely by herself- from the front desk to frame styling. And on top of it all, she is one of the best friends a gal could ask for. To say I am blessed is an understatement! I hope you have a wonderful day!

One of Dr. Bauder’s family’s passions is serving the community through their local church and other organizations. We get asked a lot about volunteer opportunities and the things we support, so I am going to start highlighting some causes we believe in to spread awareness!

Last week we had the opportunity to build beds and this weekend we got to deliver!

We delivered 2 beds to a family who had 5 children, 2 of which did not have a bed to sleep on. Can you wrap your head around that? It’s mind-boggling to think that our neighbors, our kids classmates, the person next to you at the grocery store doesn’t have a bed to sleep on.

If you want to support a local organization with an incredible heart for the people of Columbus, making a real practical difference…. Check out Bed Brigade. You can build beds, no experience necessary. Even kids can stencil on the headboards. You can deliver beds. Have a truck or large SUV? Even better! If not, you can still go and share hope with these families.

Tapped out on your schedule? You can donate funds to buy lumber! Or donate Twin XL sheets and blankets.

Who is excited for the Total Solar Eclipse over Ohio in April? We have a limited supply of eclipse glasses for $2.50 each (plus tax) if you are in need. These eclipse glasses are both ISO and CE certified safe for direct solar viewing anytime. There are lots of cheap glasses out there that are NOT certified and not safe for your eyes, so please make sure any that you have are certified by both ISO and CE!
