Deep thoughts on my heart today after visiting my family over the weekend.

I’m 31 years old and I still worry about being gay.
I still feel uncomfortable when I visit my family.
I still get nervous when I meet someone new.

Are they going to ask me about my relationship?
-Do I slip “girlfriend” into the conversation…

Will I tell the truth or will I tiptoe around the answer?
-I could always vaguely say, “my partner…”

Are they going to judge me?
-Yes I’ve been with men in the past…

Will I need to defend myself?
-Yes I’m gay but that doesn’t mean I’m XYZ…

Am I going to ruin a potential business opportunity?
-People want to work with those who share their values…

My personal life doesn’t belong on my professional pages
-Maybe I should delete all my posts with Alison…

I could just keep quiet so nobody feels uncomfortable.
-Oh wait… I tried that already… and it didn’t work.

Being gay is weird. Especially in Denver. It’s very “accepting” and LGBT-friendly, but that doesn’t eliminate the constant need to come out or explain yourself to other people. It also doesn’t eliminate the deep shame and guilt that creeps up every now and then.

I think growing up in the religion and culture that I did has also deeply engrained in my brain that being gay is wrong. It’s really really really hard to let that go.

For decades I just wanted to be happy and to make my parents happy. I wanted to be “good” and do what I was “supposed” to do as a daughter and as a Muslim woman.

Yet it always seemed impossible. It truly felt like I was just never going to be good enough. There was always something wrong with me.

It wasn’t until I met Alison that I felt like it would be worth it to let go of all those “shoulds” and just follow my heart.

I hurt some people in the process and I still feel like I grieve the relationship I “could” have with my family. But nothing would ever be worth putting myself through that constant disappointment in myself. Choosing to love Alison publicly also means choosing to love myself fully.

I love you forever Alison. I love doing life with you. Even when it’s not easy for me. “F**k the haters,” as they say.

I’ve been diligently working on my training so that I can provide the best care possible to all those babies, kids, and teens struggling with sensory disorders, anxiety, ADHD, autistic symptoms, and more! Can’t wait to share what I’m learning with you all!! 👶🏽✨

Over the weekend I attended a Rise of the Soulful CEO workshop at ‘s SoulShine Sancutary where I further aligned with my intentions and the future path of my business. I connected with many powerful women and this GODDESS of a healing horse, Jewels, who helped lead me and encourage me on this journey. God sent me a message, and I listened. ✨

Bringing chiropractic to struggling families due to nervous system dysfunction will not only improve the life of the baby, but it will change the lives on their parents, siblings, teachers, friends, and communities. Healing dysfunctions to eliminate colic, reflux, ear infections, seizures, ADD/ADHD, behavioral imbalances, sensory disorders, etc. will heal humans for generations to come.

Hard to believe that in 2019 when I was just a student I visited Dr. Tony’s practice on a whim and was so deeply inspired to work with kids and babies. I took the time to master my upper cervical speciality and now I am so EXCITED and so READY to merge my two passions.

Moment of recognition for my beautiful girlfriend

You may not have heard of footy (Australian Rules Football) but it’s this wildly impressive sport where they kick, pass, run up and down an enormous field, full contact tackle, and the only protective gear they wear is a mouth guard. It’s intense and most of these chicks are outrageously fit.

Not only has Alison been playing the sport for the past 10 years but she also coached the women’s team this season. Last night was their end of season gala and it was so special to hear everyone recognize and congratulate Alison for all her hard work and dedication to the team. She is quite the bad ass.

Alison, I am always so proud to stand by your side. ♥️
